As part of our Costa Rica trip my partner and I will be driving from La Fortuna to Santa Teresa. I know this is a really long drive and I'm just wondering if there's anywhere worth stopping part of the way through. Doesn't have to be anywhere of interest but just a place with a decent hotel to break up the drive. At the minute we plan to be driving route 18 and then 21 to get to Santa Teresa as it seems quicker? Or is taking the Puntarenas a better option?
Thanks in advance!
I'm planning a trip to Nicaragua, but flying on points and can only find flights to San Jose. So I'm thinking of using Nature Air for a quick cheap hop from Costa Rica to Managua. However I'm also thinking why not relax on a CR beach for a few days first. My question is which beach is best for us: we have 2 teens who'd probably enjoy a slightly busier scene; we can only spend a few days, so I was hoping to stay within 2 hours of San Jose or Liberia; and I'd like the beach to be clean, e.g…
We are planning to visit Costa Rica for 13 full days next August. We know that August is the mid rainy season in Costa Rica which means we will have some rain or even much rain. Hopefully it won't prevent us from enjoying the nature and some time by the beach. We are following our Lonely Planet guide and other sources to make up our itinerary but I have two questions for the moment (maybe more will arise as we are deciding) that maybe somebody can help.
Which coast you…
I am hoping to travel from samara to la fortuna on the 13th June as cheaply as possible. I can't seem to find any public bus routes/timetables online..can anybody help me to plan my route? I think I will need to take the bus from samara to nicoya but from there I do not know.
Grateful for any tips!
Hi. My partner and I are planning a 3 week trip to Costa Rica end of Aug/beginning September for our honeymoon. 1 week of that will be spent at a surf camp and the rest will be travelling around by rental car. We fly in and out of San Jose.
I really wanted to go to the Corcovado National Park but I'm worried it could be really wet this time of year and maybe not worth it. Instead we were going to give Corcovado a miss and go to the Carribbean side instead. Has anyone been to Corcovado in…
Hello there! My family of 5 will be traveling to Costa Rica this October. Hubby and I last went to CR about 12 years ago, when we flew into San Jose, stayed in Jaco, visited San Manuel Antonio, and then Arenal. This time we are bringing our three young children, ages 7, 5, and 4.
We are coming in with friends and staying at Dreams Las Mareas for 3 days. This style of travel (all inclusive resort) is not my ideal, but it is a compromise in order to be with friends, who are staying the entire…
I'm looking for flights with NatureAir for Dec./Jan. from San Jose to Managua or the Corn Islands, and all of December turns up blank. Is it possible they're already all sold out for that month, or is likely because NatureAir just doesn't book flights that far in advance?
I'm asking because other parts of our itinerary (which I was about to press the button on) involve Nicaragua and I was kind of counting on the cheap NatureAir hop from SJ to Managua....but now I'm not sure if it's going to be…
I am thinking about travelling to Costa Rica in August. I know it is not high season but for those who have visited during this time, how was the weather?
Thank you all!
We’re two seniors in our late 60s looking to explore some of the wonders of Costa Rica for two weeks. We have some mobility issues and are not adventure travelers. We like our creature comforts and can afford to fly between cities rather than hours on a bus or driving mountain dirt roads. It will be the rainy season so we would prefer to avoid the West Coast. We are normally independent travelers and rarely use tour groups. We’ve already completed 14 months of travel in Southern Europe, the…
