There is so much information out there so I thought I would reach out and ask for advice more specific to my trip. My boyfriend and I (26 and 29 y/o) are planning to visit CR December 30- January 9. Both for our first time! So we will be there to celebrate the New Year. Neither of us drink, so I am in search of a destination that isn't party-central to ring in the New Year. I'm thinking a nice dinner with fireworks on a beach?
I think we are set with wanting to stay on the Central…
Francesca here, I'll be traveling to Costa Rica for 2 weeks in May and I was looking for a few suggestions. I have 8 days alone before I meet up with my best friend (we'll be traveling to Tamarindo to spend 4 days together). I was thinking to spend this free time exploring Jaco and San Jose but from the looks of these postings, I'd be doing myself a disservice. Any tips on where I should spend my time and what places to avoid as a woman traveling alone?
We are a family of 4 (with 2 kids, 5 and 8) planning a trip to CR this July. Looking for any specific recommendations on hotels/operators/other in the places on our itinerary. Our hotel budget is 50-100 per night, and we arent planning on renting a car for the duration, but could for pieces.
Arrive SJO and likely head straight to Tortuguero or 3 days. Specific tour operators people like for a package? Specific hotels if people dont like the package deals?
Monteverde 4 nights…
This is a long shot but worth a try. A friend of mine attended the Envisionfest festival in Costa Rica this weekend, and has a flight to catch Monday morning (in other words today) in San Jose. She needs to be at the airport by around 8am. She can't find her bank card and has no cash on her. It's her and her daughter, she's a responsible person, etc. but is just in a sticky situation. If she misses the flight it will cost her $1,800 to change it so it's imperative she catch this…
hello Fellow and Sister Travelers, I will be going ot Tamarindo this summer around July. I have gone in the past during this month but thsi time I have to travel about end of June to mid-July or last days of July intomid-August. I know it is considered the rainyseason. Thusfar Ive encountered heavy rain 1 or 2 days on my July trips. Which adjustment would you suggest to 'avoid' the heavire rain? many thanks
I came to Costa Rica to carry out a childcare volunteer project. I had an incredible experience working in La Carpio, one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in the San Jose province. I volunteered through Maximo Nivel and came away very impressed by the professionalism and dedication their staff displayed. Overall an excellent experience. Lastly, I must throw David Gonzalez a shout-out. He gave me wonderful advice on teaching English to the kids, and on how to best communicate with them.
Hello everyone. I know my topic isn't new, but I wanted my own dialogue on it...so here it goes...
I only have one night in San Jose. I'm only staying to catch a morning flight back home. My questions is: Is it worth it to stay in the city of San Jose for the night or should I just book a hotel close to the airport? I will be arriving around 5pm, so will still have a little daylight to roam around. I am female, traveling alone. Wondering if I will be safe walking around after dark. Not…
We are a couple from Poland, and we are planning a 3-week trip to Costa Rica in April / May. Unfortunately we've only just started to work on our itinerary, so our time for preparations is short, and it's not an easy task especially with so many great places Costa Rica has to offer. So we will be grateful for your advice, as we are a little bit overwhelmed by the possibilities :)
Our general plan is to hire 4WD in San Jose, drive around the country and experience the best Costa…
Hi fellow travelers,
I unfortunately have a 6 am flight out of San Jose back to Canada but would like to linger on the coast for as long as possible.
I will arrive around 8 pm to San Jose the night before; therefore, I will have to spend the night in SJ to ensure I am at the airport on time.
Rather than sleep in the airport (not even sure if that is an option), is anyone able to recommend a close, clean (read: bedbug free) place to stay so I can get some shut eye before departing home?
Hi, I'll be staying at the OGP resort at the end of august. I want to bring my rod and some tackle...was wondering if there is any shore fishing around the area if anyone knows.
I know the resort has a pretty decent sized beach but is there any point to cast from the beach as a last resort?
Thanks in advance!
