Costa Rica for a few days, with 2 year old?

Hello! I just moved to Mexico with my family (wife and 2 year old child).

I have to go to San Jose (actually Sta Ana) for work.

My question is: is it worth getting my family to come? Is there anything to do in Sta Ana? Wwhat if I take a day a day off and we have three free days there? What could we do/see that we could not do/see in Mexico? Bearing in mind that we have a toddler so won't be climbing volcanos or hiking through rainforests...

Thanks!

Flying into SJO from David, Panama

I am trying to schedule a flight fro David Panama to SJO on a Wednesday in March on Air Panama. It is scheduled to arrive at 11:01 am at SJO. There is a 2:35 pm US Air flight from SJO on the same day to Charlotte., NC USA. Is 3.5 hours enough time to change planes and clear customs? Does anyone have any experience with these flights and their on-time records? Looking for reassurance before booking. Thanks!

Jaco this weekend?

hey all I am taking a last minute trip and may head to Costa Rica for 7-10 days. The most convenient flight for me is SJO and from my research, the closest beach seems to be Jaco.

My question is, traveling alone is Jaco worth it? I know it's reputation -- I would like to experience some of the cuisine and nightlife, meet some people and even a fishing outing. Is it possible to do all of this while also having some peaceful time to have a beer and relax?

Open to any suggestions. Is there a…

Cerro Chirripo Hike

I hiked it in 2013 and was an awesome experience. Im doing it again with a buddy in 2 weeks...got our reservations etc. Can any one update me on the meals at the base camp. I hear they've done a big change in how things are done....no personal cooking and now have a buffet style meal service, and supply bedding, which saves some logistics. Anything else changed???..Thanks.

4 weeks Costa Rica with 6 yo this summer

We plan to spend 4-6 weeks in CR with our 6 yo son this summer...probably July. My husband is an airline pilot so he will need to commute back to the states for work a few times during our stay. Will have to check which airport has more options for his commute. We are traveling on a budget so we were thinking the cheapest way would be to rent one place (airbnb has several) for one full month and take shorter 2-4 day jaunts to other areas from there. We really want to home base near the sea and…

Rioja Renta Car

I'm trying to rent a 4x4 for 4 people in Golfito and drop it in Dominical. I can find 2 options:
1. Rioja Renta Car (looks like a small operation).
2. Solid

Does anyone know anything good or bad about Rioja?
The Solid rental web site allows a different drop-off location, but says "Please coordinate with us at the counter." Is this an added fee? Any ideas?

12 Days In Costa Rica...La Paz vs Celeste?

Advice needed...3 Friends and I will be traveling to Costa Rica in early March. Most of our stay is already booked in at a vacation home in Puerto Viejo, Playa Cocles. We have 7 nights booked at the house, so I'm looking for advice what day trips we need to do out of Puerto Viejo. Waterfalls, hikes, snorkeling, culture...anything that is a must see!

I am more concerned about what we should do with our first 2 days upon arrival. We get in to San Jose about mid day and my initial thought was…

Getting from San Jose to Tamarindo

Hi there,

I'll be arriving in San Jose on the 2nd of March and need to go to Tamarindo for the 3rd. I would like to take buses as I assume those are most economical. Any advice on taking a bus to Tamarindo from San Jose? Do they run often? What bus station would I go to? Would I have to stop in Liberia and then change?

Thanks

Ben
