My group is staying in Tamarindo for a week in July. Yes I know... lol
I want to try and make the best of it... what are the best ideas for day trips to get out of town and into a bit of nature? I don't need reasons why we shouldn't stay there if we want nature, it's not my idea of a great trip, I'm just along for the ride and this is what the group (wives) decided. lol
What are the best options for hikes, zip lines, anything... that will get us out of town to see something else? We…

Hello Travellers, my wife and I and two friends are looking to go to Costa Rica, hopefully the Nicoya Peninsula area for a few weeks (up to four) in the above months. We are having challenges finding accommodation on the eastern shore area of the peninsula. We think we want to go there as the waters will be more sheltered and better for snorkelling than on the western shore exposed to the Pacific wave action. Any suggestions? Are the waters in the inside of the peninsula a good snorkeling…
Me and my partner are heading to Costa Rica for 3 weeks mid May. We've a rough idea of the places we want to visit and have a budget of $3000 for the both of us for the time (with spare money if needed but i'd like to stick to $3000 if we can) . I've got plenty of guide books etc and have read through similar posts but the thing I want advice on is if anyone has done a similar route or could suggest something different.
Were planning on staying in Hostels and using public transport, if…
Does anyone know if this bus line still runs as of March 2017? I see several posts discussing this bus costing 14$ and running, however they are several years old and it seems according to Lonely Planet that it is no longer running. If not, any good alternatives to take a bus to get to Bocas?
I am planning 3 weeks backpacking alone in the month of May.
I am currently undecided about whether to either backpack in Costa Rica/Belize/Guatemala, and spend most of my time backpacking around, on the beach / scuba diving / some day hikes in the national parks - taking it relatively easy - or do some serious trekking/mountaineering in Bolivia/ Chile!
Would appreciate some recommendations from experienced central american travelers, who can advise on non-touristy / budget things to see and…
I am a long term traveler currently making my way around Central America (been traveling all over the world since April 2015). I'm now in Bocas Del Toro. I plan and research obsessively as I go along- not really making plans to the T in case something awesome comes up or is recommended.
Sooo- last week, my parents and cousin surprised me with a week-long visit meeting up in Costa Rica (flying into Liberia) for my birthday. I'm now responsible for figuring out where to go, research…
Hi everyone (esp Mr Moto!) Got everything planned for my trip to CR in two weeks however it is bugging me that i havent managed to find a route to get to Poas and my 6 yr old daughter is obsessed with volcanos at the moment. We are driving back from Puerto Veijo on our last day and have booked an airport hotel so we are close to the airport the next morning. Our flight is at 12.55 and i'm figuring we need to be there at 10am. However now I'm thinking that I could possibly stay at a hotel near…
I am flying to San José on Monday, and I finally decided to change most of my itinerary.
Day 1 (arrival in San José): I am staying in San José not too far from the bus terminal 310.
Days 2-4: Montezuma
On day 2 I am taking the bus to Jacó in order to get the 10 am water taxi from Jacó to Montezuma
Days 4-6: Santa Teresa/Mal País
Day 7: Leave the Nicoya Peninsula and take the water taxi back to Jacó, then from there head to the Caribbean Coast. What would be the fastest way to get to…
