Refugio de Vida Silvestre Cipancí
New in 2001, this small wildlife refuge is at the confluence of the Ríos Tempisque and Bebedero, at the southern end of Parque Nacional Palo Verde. It’s a good spot for bird-watching and fishing, though it’s virtually untouristed. Local fishers offer passenger boats for tours on these two rivers. A three-hour guided tour can usually be arranged at the docks; show up early. The Minae/ACT office in Cañas has more information on the park. Boats leave from the Níspero dock, just north of the Tempisque ferry.
