Hello! My friend and I are traveling to Costa Rica in October (not the best time, I know) and plan on making a trip to the Caribbean side. We only have 8 days so we're mostly planning on hanging on some beaches and doing some hikes.

So, here's my question. My friend has terrible motion sickness and it's making her really worried about the bus ride from San Jose. We'll most likely be going to Cahuita and/or Puerto Viejo but we haven't done much specific planning yet. Mostly what she's worried…

Hi All!
I would love some itinerary advice for our week-long trip! My boyfriend and I will be traveling to CR 11/24-12/2. We are in our late 20's and looking for an active trip that is not too touristy, gives us good variety of scenery, and gets in a lot of hiking. I was leaning towards not getting a rental car as well.

** Here's what I was thinking so far:**
Days 1-3: arrive at SJO - bus to Cahuita (3 nights in Cahuita) --> beach time/ cahuita national park/puerto viejo
Day 4: Head to La…

Hello,

We are going to Costa Rica in November/December and since it's our first time in Central America I have no idea if the itinerary I've come up with is feasible. The driving time is what's the most difficult to estimate so any advice/info on that would be welcome.

Here's the tentative itinerary:
Day 1 – San José
Day 2 – Bus to Cahuita
Day 3/4 – Cahuita and Manzanillo
Day 5/6/7 - To Tortuguero and back
Day 8/9 – Driving to Poas + visit national park
Day 10/11 – Driving to Bajo del Toro + Juan…

We are travelling to CR in December/January for 16 days with our baby who will then be 6 months old. I'm a very experienced traveller but not with a baby.
My current itinerary is:
Land in SJO and stay overnight
2 days around Arenal for hiking/springs/horseback tours
6 days around Antonio/ south coast
6 days around Caribbean Coast (Cahuita based)
Last night in SJO before flying home.

Questions:
Is 2 days enough for Arenal area?
I chose Antonio because it's meant to be child friendly but I hate tacky…

I read on a (now closed) forum that the bus from San Jose to PJ leaves at 8am and takes 7.5hours. A commenter noted: "I arrived at the Atlantico Norte bus station at 5:30 am for the supposed 6:00 am bus to Puerto Jimenez, only to find the bus station not open and that the bus did not leave until much later. There is a lot of confusing information on the Internet regarding the schedule of this bus, but I believe the 8:00 am departure time is correct one."

However all information I can find…

I lived in Costa Rica 2002-04 and have maintained contact since with my Tica god-daughter Arleth, who's now 16, and her family. I have a Toshiba laptop I'd like to send them but there's no way to get it there, so am looking for someone traveling to CR to deliver it. They live in a rural area west of Paso Canoas - near the CR-Panama border, Pacific side - just south of Golfito and east of Pavones and Playa Zancudo. If you are travelling to the Osa Peninsula, Corcovado or Domincal, you'll be…

My husband and I are considering a trip to Costa Rica in October. We were initially considering a self-drive trip itinerary of: San Jose - Pacuare - Arenal - Manuel Antonio - San Jose. However we've read that the weather in this part of Costa Rica is meant to be terrible in October (constant rain, mudslides, etc). Has anyone been to any of these areas during October and have any advice as to whether or not it is worth going that time of year? We don't mind a bit of rain, but it won't be fun if…

Hello!

Does anybody know if there is possibility to rent wi-fi for a period of time in Costa Rica?
We will be there for 2 weeks and we would like to have wi-fi everywhere and not only at our hotels.
(For example, in Japan there were several wi-fi companies with a counter at the airport arrivals and we could rent it from there).

Also, I read there are ATM machines at the arrivals and at the departures hall in SJ airport. Do you recommend bringing our US Dollars with us or withdrawing from the ATM…

Hola!

I will be very limited with time in Costa Rica (arrive evening of 9/9/17 and leave 9/15/17). I am planning to spend some time in both Monteverde and Manual Antonio. I was wondering what is the best way to get from one city to the next (not quite sure which city I'll be in first), bus, taxi...etc?

Also, any recommendations on hostels?...I will be traveling solo, so I'd like to meet some other solo travelers.

Muchas gracias!
