I am looking to go to Costa Rica next January. I will be travelling by myself so was wondering if it would be best to join a tour group or would it be safe to go on my own? I have travelled with organised tour groups before which I have enjoyed and it was kinda nice to have everything planned and set out for you so I didn't need to worry about anything, however if it's possible to easily organise things on my own then that's definitely something I will consider. For example I was thinking about…

Hi, everyone! I've done some traveling outside of the US, but mostly with groups. So I would appreciate any help I can get planning our one month adventure to Costa Rica that my husband and I are planning on taking next summer (June). We're really interested in seeing the jungle, some volcano action, some animal reserves, and the beach. The only adventure-type activity that we really must do is white water rafting. And for budget reasons we only fly Spirit Airlines, which means that we'll need…

Hello!

I'm doing a diving internship in Costa Rica and I have a few questions!

1) I have a return ticket out of Costa Rica 6 month after my arrival. I will not be spending all that time in Costa Rica. Once entering Costa Rica will immigration request a return ticket within the 90 day allowable stay?

1a) I understand a traveller can pay a fee of $100 to extend the 90 day stay? Is there another safe option aside from border runs?

2) Once I am done my internship I plan to continue my travels…

My husband and I are staying in Hatillo- we've explored Quepos, Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Uvita and Ojochal. We had planned to stay in this area the whole time - but realize we need a change of scenery. We ruled out going to the Osa this time.

Any suggestions? Have not seen La Fortuna or Arenal before but we really don't like super touristy stuff. We fly out of SJO Saturday, today is Wednesday. Any suggestions on things to see or do, day trips from here (Hatillo, near Dominical) or where…

Hi! I land at SJO next month at 3 pm and since I only have a week in CR, I want to make the most of it... The plan was to head straight to the Caribbean Coast (Pto Viejo/Cahuita), but since I'm arriving at 3pm it's too late for transfers/public bus (as far as I can tell).

Any ideas of ways to get to the caribbean coast that afternoon (besides a $200+ private car)?

If not, any suggestions of places to go that would be good for the late afternoon/evening near San Jose? Ideally one from which…

So I was planning to rent a car for the whole month of Feb next year for my trip as through travelocity it came out to $450 for the month. Now I've realized that's a scam of sorts and it will cost another $1000 on top of that for hidden fees and insurance.... I can't afford that unfortunately.

I normally travel by bus, motorbikes and what not but this time I have a little tiny baby that I'll be wearing on me and a backpack so I am a bit more weary of that as getting stuck somewhere at night as…
