Hi,

we are planning a 3 weeks trip to Nicaragua (only Ometepe, Corn Islands) and Costa Rica. I try to find out if it makes sence to book an open jaw flight to Managua and out of San Jose or fly to and out of San Jose and travel to Nicaragua via land ?

Cabo Matapalo, Osa Peninsula activities

My family & I are traveling to Cabo Matapalo on the Osa Peninsula for a week in March of 2015. We have a place to stay on the beach but we are looking for activity/excursion suggestions for the area. There are 7 of us, all adults, with 5 of us in our 20s and 2 of us in our 50s; all of us are physically fit. We are looking for active/adventurous type activities, such as great waterfalls to hike to, best beaches to surf, suggested guided tours of Corvocado, zip lining, etc. Any suggestions or…

Corcovado - 3 day hike

Hi All - There's a 3 day hike from Puerto Jimenez to La Sirena, sleep 2 days there, then hike back to another Ranger Station... I know that this needs to be done with a guide, but I'm travelling solo, and generally guides are hired by groups. I'd like to do this hike sometime in the next 2-3 months and wondering if I can easily find a group to join if I make my way to Peurto Jimenez? Schedule is not that of a regular backpacker as I'll be taking off work so can't really afford to spend days…

Selecting Beach Towns in Nicoya/Guanacaste

I'll be travelling to the Nicoya/ Guanacaste for around 7-9 days and am having trouble deciding between beach towns; so far I'm considering Montezuma, Mal Pais, Samara, Nosara, or Playa Grande.

Does anyone have recommendations on the pros/cons between these places? In general some of the things we like are:
- nice beaches, casual towns with laid back vibes, but with a little bit going on (i.e. music at times and a few restaurants)
- access to some nature, day hikes, wildlife, and turtle…

lodging/ base in Jan/ Feb

If you had to keep your budget for lodging during high season (but after New Years) as low as possible, and you relied on public transportation (or tours) instead of renting a car, where would you go for enjoying the natural wonders? Where might you base yourself if you chose a base for a month with occasional side trips? Are there places where you might find a monthly rental for say $600 or less (1 person), but be able to walk, bike or bus to services, and not be the only tourist in town?

hiking into river celeste at Tenorio N.P.

My husband and I are heading to Costa Rica for the second time. We are flying into San Jose renting a 4 x4 and going to the Nicoya Peninsula beaches. But first we want to check out some of the national parks along the way. I want to see Celeste River and Tenorio National Park, then check out Rincon de la Vieja before heading to the beaches. My question is about Tenorio N. P. Can anyone tell me about the hike? My husband is not a rugged hiker and I don't want a grouch as a traveling…

Safety Of Luggage In Rental Cars

I intend to rent a car in CR for 3 weeks next month. I read here not leave anything cars unattended. I would not leave it visible in it for everyone, but is it ok in the luggage compartment? I don't feel like taking all my luggage with me when going to a museum or on a hike. I also read somewhere else people lost all of there stuff because thieves had a masterkey for their make of car. Is this a serious risk for rentals?

Arenal volcano and hot springs

I'm planning to spend one day in La Fortuna and my original idea was to go to Arenal Volcano. Can I do that by public transport? I don't seem to find the right information about it. I would like to combine that with hot springs-. Any clue on how to find one for free? Tobacón is so expensive.

volcano's

End January I arrive at 10.am at San José airport. I am interested in an easy volcanotrip with viewing nice craterlake.I was thinking going to Alejuela and going to VOLCANO POAS next day and the day after with the bus to La Fortuna.
Can I see same craterlake there and skip Volcano Poas? I will travel from Costa Rica through Nicaragua and
El Salvador to Guatemale where I take after 6 weeks my flight back.
Where on this route can I easily (I am 70+) go to volcano's with view of crater lake?
Thanks…
