I'm flying into Liberia on the 25th of July and as of yet, have no plans on where to go or what to do after that.
I know I am aiming to do a week at a surf camp and would also like to see rainforests, turtles and do some rafting, kayaking and canyoning. General adventure type things is what I would like to get involved with. I won't have my own car so it would be extremely useful if any suggestions on locations and activities came with travel suggestions. I have my eye on Playa…
I'd really love to go to Costa Rica and since I'm a teacher, I can only do it in the summer months. I know, not the best time to go there, but unless I want to wait until I retire/change my career, this is the only option.
I would like to know how bad the weather gets in those months and also how/to what extent do one's travel activities get affected.
Nicaragua is probably not much different, I suppose.
Thank you so much for your help.
I have been reading the Lonely Planet trying to work out our trip to Costa Rica 9 nights, 8 full days (26 December - 4 Jan). My head is reeling and I can't work out what is best.
We are NZ family with kids aged 20 and 15, used to travelling and one of us speaks good Spanish. We will be flying in from having had 2 weeks in New York so won't be jet-lagged. We fly in and out of San Jose arriving late at night on 26 December. We are aware that this period will be busy and that locals will…
After having spent a few days in Granada and a month on Isla Ometepe, I will be in Liberia on June 3 to accompany my wife to the airport. I then have 2 weeks of travel till my own flight leaves out of San Jose. I love to hike, bike and swim. I do not have any interest in theme parks or ziplining, but love to be in the mountains, and possibly , but the coast. I am a Spanish speaker, and enjoy personal/ cultural interaction as well. I will be traveling solo by public transportation. I was…
I'm going to be in Monteverde and La Fortuna/Arenal area July 2017. Looking for unique experiences that are not too touristy. Where can I find interaction with animals? I'd like to hold a sloth or monkey!
Okay the time is finally here- flying into SJO at 12pm and driving to Arenal staying two days and then driving to flamingo- any stops we should make in between? Any tips? I would love to stop at La Paz but assume we wouldn't really have enough time to do that and make it to arenal before dark - by the time we picked up rental etc.
We haven't booked any tours...kind of winging it here. Pretty nervous about driving but we are from NYC how much worse can it be?! This blog has been so incredibly…
As part of our Costa Rica trip my partner and I will be driving from La Fortuna to Santa Teresa. I know this is a really long drive and I'm just wondering if there's anywhere worth stopping part of the way through. Doesn't have to be anywhere of interest but just a place with a decent hotel to break up the drive. At the minute we plan to be driving route 18 and then 21 to get to Santa Teresa as it seems quicker? Or is taking the Puntarenas a better option?
Thanks in advance!
I'm planning a trip to Nicaragua, but flying on points and can only find flights to San Jose. So I'm thinking of using Nature Air for a quick cheap hop from Costa Rica to Managua. However I'm also thinking why not relax on a CR beach for a few days first. My question is which beach is best for us: we have 2 teens who'd probably enjoy a slightly busier scene; we can only spend a few days, so I was hoping to stay within 2 hours of San Jose or Liberia; and I'd like the beach to be clean, e.g…
We are planning to visit Costa Rica for 13 full days next August. We know that August is the mid rainy season in Costa Rica which means we will have some rain or even much rain. Hopefully it won't prevent us from enjoying the nature and some time by the beach. We are following our Lonely Planet guide and other sources to make up our itinerary but I have two questions for the moment (maybe more will arise as we are deciding) that maybe somebody can help.
Which coast you…
