Lonely Planet review for Koki Beach
Doing its best to channel Miami Beach, this sleek spot cranking reggae-lite classics has fruit-colored paper lanterns and Adirondack chairs that face the ocean from an elevated wooden platform. There’s a decent selection of Peruvian-inflected ceviches, meat and seafood dishes as well as some watery cocktails. If you’re going to snack, the yucca chips and guacamole are quite good.

World Class Bar
puravidalove recommends this,
Koki is a world class bar and everything they've done, they've done right. Simply the only place to "style it" in PV. You'll be going back every night for the best food and incredible cocktails! A truly magical place.
Good for: everything
Not good for: absolutely nothing

an Oasis is Porto Viejo, Costa Rica
davidnewyork recommends this,
I visited Costa Rica for the first time in June 2011, loved the jungle and nature, but at the end of the day loved dining in an Oasis I found at Porto Viejo, Koki beach bar and restaurant, with a view of the ocean, the cold beer, and fresh yucca chips, I forgot all about New York City, it was like an Oasis.
To make things even better, the grass fed steaks were perfect, everyone was so friendly, and the music was just happy happy happy.
I highly recommend it, and if you really want happy, get some of their Guacamole to go with your beer and yucca chips, you will thank me...Good for: dinner with friends or a date, evening drinks & relaxation, happy hour, sunset watching

Koki Beach Restaurant is a wonderful place!
marie67 recommends this,
I went to Puerto Viejo in March 2011 with my family and we ended up eating several dinners at Koki. The interior design is so cool and you can tell that there's a thought behind everything. We felt totally relaxed and enjoyed both the good service and the excellent food. One night we had a kind of Lobster and it couldn't have been more fresh - directly delivered from the ocean across the street! Another night we just felt like having some "tapas" and our kids (age 12 and 14) said that the hamburgers were one of the best they ever had. Their menu has something for everyone and every mood. Don't miss the dessert "Banana Box" !!! It's sooooooo good! The bartender treated our sons as adults and served them alcohol-free drinks that almost looked like my and my husbands "Mojito". They felt good with the attention and one of them wants to become a bartender now ;-) The atmosphere is so friendly that you see many companies starting to talk to their "neighbourtable" One more thing; Koki Beach must have Puerto Viejos cleanest Restrooms!!! As I said the owners really have a thought behind everything - every little detail! And going to the restrooms you could get a glimpse of the kitchen area and see that it looks very clean and well-managed. I really recomend this place!
Good for: Everyone feels welcome!

A destination by itself!
luemabelle recommends this,
On the main drag of a small fisherman's village turn hot tourist spot and in front of the ocean with a fabulous sunset!
A friend yield out to me - see you for happy hour and sunset at Koki Beach, 5-ish.. as it is the land of Pura Vida, the way of life in a land of giant flowers and happy people! So I met my new friends at Koki Beach, five-ish. I was the first one to arrive and was I glad! The place looked whimsical, colorful and happy. I was greeted by a handsome, young men from Sweden who gave me a tour of the place, explained that most building materials; wood and such at Koki Beach are re-purposed, recycled materials. Walking through the center of the restaurant the owner pointed out to Janet, the resident's sloth hanging out on a tree in the middle of the main space of the establishment. Janet lived here long before we came. When we built this place we decided to save her home; the tree in the middle of the restaurant, said Christen.
There is a feel of spaciousness to this place without being wasteful. I finished by wondering around, looking at people and chatting with a very friendly bartender who served me an amazing mojito. My friends arrived soon after and it was such a treat. The music was great, drinks plentiful on the spirits and the finger-food just delicious. We went back several times and always had great fun.
I'm gone back home now but I miss PV and Koki Beach. Next year Koki Beach will be my destination!
Thanks guys!.

A gourmet dinning experience with a South Beach Vibe
ecomarketstore recommends this,
It's worth discovering Koki Beach in Puerto Viejo de Salamanca which is a true gourmet dinning experience with a South Beach Vibe tucked away in a Jungle Paradise. The building is Design using all reclaimed materials, modern island style and has a great atmosphere. Enjoy a romantic meal at one of the balcony tables overlooking the beach, or sit inside and mingle with tourist and locals. You can find this gem just a walk from the beach.
Food and service are always top class. Best Mojito I ever Had!!!!
Thanks, Christer & Jorge!!!!Good for: dinner, Cocktail, Meeting friends after Beach

Before you even see the menu, you have to take a minute to check this place out, colorful chairs (the same chairs me and my grandma used to sit to watch people passing by) upcycled lamps and beatiful staff.
My favorite place to sit there is in the deck, when you can face the street, order a drink and watch people passing by,Chris and Jorge are the greatest hosts and you will never be bored with these guys around.

Best people watching place in town...
colinsito recommends this,
Koki is an ideal place to sit late afternoon and enjoy some snacks and take in street life in Puerto Viejo. A great open design that works well for the area. After eating too much local rice and beans, it was nice to have some more gourmet type food that Koki serves. It was definitely one our highlights of Puerto Viejo.
Good for: people watching, Sunsets, good food, Beach views
Not good for: people looking for local fare

Fab Night at KoKi
fspahr recommends this,
We found that great restaurant on the main drag, yet across the street from the sea, that combines sleek design and great food. Koki Beach is aesthetically decorated to create a relaxing and trendy ambiance while enjoying international food with a Caribbean twist.
If your idea of a great dinner while on holiday is getting filled up real quick at the cheapest price, look elsewhere. Koki Beach is for the savvy traveler that wants to spend a great night, listening to lounge music while having quality food and/or tapas. After going a few times, we found out that it’s a good idea to go early, at around 5:30pm and sit at the front part of the restaurant to get the best views of the sea before the sun sets. From there, we also enjoyed doing some” people watching” while sipping one of their great frozen drinks: A great way to end a day at the beach!
Good for: great food, Quality Time, Lounge ambiance

If you're looking for a good place for dinner, Koki is definitely one to try. Their Playa Grande fish is delicious and so are the tuna and lomito (beef). Not to forget the brownie and ice cream for dessert!Good for: Groups, people watching, Romantic dinner, chilling drinks
