Hi everybody!

We got cheap flights and are heading into Guanacaste via Nicaragua around Oct 13 - smack in the middle of the rainy season by all accounts. That being said, we aren't made of sugar, and are planning a trip that is pro-rainy season.

So, if you please; we will be entering from the Penas Blancas border on Oct 14 and have 4 days to get to San Jose from there. What are two places to spend 1-2 days each (sort of on the way to San Jose), that might be particularly amenable to rainy…

Hi experts! :)

After some amazing advice on here at the end of last year, we now have the following fixed itinerary for this August.

I was wondering if any of you guys would be able to recommend any must do activities/events for any of the places we are heading to? Any help would be awesome.

Activities/things of interest would be beginner level surfing, rafting, biking, wildlife, national parks, hot springs, medium level hikes (~3hours), sun bathing, EATING and drinking.

Sat Aug 20 – San

Hello all,

Headed off to Costa Rica in mid July for 15 days with wife and 2 kids (6 and 4). We are getting into the details of the trip now and had a question about our budget. We had never previously considered renting a car until we read more about it and became more comfortable with the costs and insurance. This forum was very helpful in teaching us a lot about renting.

We're curious about the cost comparison between a rental and public transport/taxi over a two week trip. We're not…

San Jose: Oct 11 &12; We have a friend living there who we are staying with and who is going to show us around
Cahuita: Oct 13 - 16; We are driving here with our friend and staying 3 nights…

Car rental

There are a lot of anxious people writing about car rentals in Costa Rica. Happy to report I had a great experience. We rented from Trebol in La Fortuna and Marcos took wonderful care of us. Had the car for a week and dropped it at a different destination. No problem. Thumbs way up for Trebol and especially for Marcos.

August 10-11: NEED SUGGESTION of place to spend 2 nights
August 12-19th Manuel Antonio where we…

Hi all,

I am a female solo traveller planning a trip to Costa Rica, Panama and then south America in Jan 18 and wondered if the first leg of my trip in Costa Rica is realistic.

1) Am I spending enough time in each place?
2) Are the modes of transport between each area I have chosen affordable and relatively easy to organise? I do not mind necessary mind about journey time, as I can always stay longer in one area but ideally they need to be relatively cheap.

16/01/18 Arrive at 11:50am in San…

I have brought enough equipment ,am experienced enough, Possibly, for 3 days solo nature. But I find little regarding primitive camping in Costa Rica. I am here now in san jose environs, do not need a whole lot of company, but am in no way anti-social. Just desire a solo experience in higher elevations. I do not mind paying ranger fees of course,if needed. Thanks for any informed comments .

Hi Everyone

I've been trying to plan a trip over Christmas to Costa Rica. I realize it's going to be crowded and probably hard to avoid the craziness of all the tourists but if I could limit the crowds that would be great. We only have maybe 10 days 11 nights and want to include a beach towards the beginning and end of our trip. My top priority is seeing Arenal and maybe some national parks to do some hikes that we can do on our own. We will be travelling by local transportation…

Hi
We will be arriving in Costa Rica with no return flight booked. Plan is to travel overland to Panama and beyond.
Has anybody bought international bus tickets from 'bus tickets costa rica' web site (https://www.ticketbuscr.com/)?
Is the confirmation email received enough to get through imigration?

Thanks
