Costa Rica Travel Trips
This time, as we had guests staying for two weeks at our Costa Rica treehouse, Jeanne and I decided to travel to other parts of this beautiful country to some of the places that we had visited twelve years before - during our epic thirteen-month travel trip adventure along the entire Pan-American Highway, from Alaska to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego and back - starting in Toronto, Canada.
Our first stay was 30 kilometers from Liberia, at a finca (farm) near the base of the…

Hi all
I have a reservation withThrifty car rental and they seem to have a better price on Toyota Prado for 12 days. I chatted with https://costaricadiscount.com and they said thrifty is bad and cheats. This company offer discount card for car rental and we need to pay $40. We only get 20% of the base rate and that is not significant. Another way for them to make money. Is thrifty really bad? They said vamos's rental cars are old. I think that is correct. So I am confused which company to rent a…

Hey there! Im going to be in Costa Rica from July 21- August 13 and want to start my trip on the Osa Peninsula. I have been researching hiking options for Corcovado national Park and am disappointed that it is SO
expensive! I guess these days, you have to hire a guide or have a tour company arrange one for you, and its cheaper the more people you have in your party. I am a solo traveler, and have realized that I definitely can not do this on my own in an economical way. I would love to join a…

Hello, I will be traveling to Costa Rica this July with my family (which also consist of a 3 and 5 year old) for 3-4 weeks. I am considering either flying into Liberia and heading to Samara/Mal Pais and Montezuma area or flying into San Jose and going to Jaco/Manual Antonio area. I have been to the latter and am familiar with its beauty and know that my children and husband would love it. However, I have been reading a lot about Samara and south and am wondering if it would be better (it…

I have figured out two itinerary options and am wondering which is more feasible/enjoyable. Also wondering if anyone has taken adventure connections, I'm looking at the rafting from puerto viejo to la fortuna. here are two rough…

Hi there all you CR gurus! after much work and research, I finally got an 8 day trip planned for my sister's fancy 5-star family. The broad plan now is for me to arrive before them, travel solo for a week, meet them for the 8 days, then continue to travel solo after they leave for another week. Now I am hoping the experienced folks here can help me plan my solo travel that will be within my budget, good choices given the green season, and will make sense given where I will have to be to meet my…

Hi all, I went to Costa Rica last December for New Year's, surfed in Jaco, whitewater rafted in the Pacuare, and hot spring'ed it up in La Fortuna. Hope this photoblog and video helps your planning!

Hi all,

I arrive at San Jose at around 12pm - I would love to head straight to Monteverde. Is this realistic? What's the best way to organise this?

We booked a vacation in Costa Rica during Christmas but now my husband is worried to go there due to the situation.
What do you recommend? Is it advisable to go there in these conditions during Christmas?

Thanks,
