So you're going on holiday! You've booked your plane tickets, read the hotel reviews, dog-eared your guidebook, dusted off your passport, planned out your itineraries, mixed and matched your basics, bought more memory cards for your camera and pulled your travelling shoes from the back of the closet. After everything else is sorted comes the hardest part of planning a holiday – waiting for departure day!

Now there's something to help you count down the days before you leave: our Holiday Countdown App. Besides letting you know – to the day, hour, minute and second – how much time you have left before the big trip, it also offers helpful travel tips and advice on using your money abroad from Lonely Planet and Barclays, with new tips updated each day. It's easy to use the Holiday Countdown App: just click the install now link on the right, wait for the app to install, and then enter your destination, date of departure and what type of trip you're taking – and that's it! Be sure to check it daily so you don't miss any of the great travel tips on offer.

To install on your computer, you'll need the following:
