Getting there & away
The bus offices are clustered on Calle 3 near the corner of Carrera 11. There are regular minibuses to Neiva (US$5, four hours) and several buses a day to Bogotá (US$16, 12 hours). It is best to book ahead for buses to Popayán (US$6, six to eight hours), since some only stop if there are reservations.
There are no direct buses to Tierradentro; go to La Plata (US$8, five hours) and change for the bus to El Cruce de San Andrés (US$4, 2½ hours). From here it's a 20-minute walk to the Tierradentro museum.
The roads to both Popayán and Tierradentro are very rough going and have also seen lots of guerrilla activity in the past. Double-check current safety conditions.
