Providencia Getting there & around

Getting around

Getting around the island is easy, as colectivos and pick-up trucks run along the road in both directions; it's US$1 for a ride of any distance. There may be only one or two per hour, but locals will usually give you a ride on the back of their motorcycle.

Pick-ups congregate at the airport waiting for incoming flights and ask as much as US$2.50 for any distance. To avoid overcharging, walk a bit further from the airport and wave down a colectivo or pick-up passing along the road for the usual US$1 fare.

A taxi from the airport will cost US$5 to Santa Isabel and US$7 to Aguadulce.

A pleasant way to get around is by bicycle, which can be rented from Body Contact. You can also rent a motorcycle (per day US$15) from a few small operators in Aguadulce and Santa Isabel.
