Travels It’s been a quiet month for travel as we are renting an apartment in Medellin, Colombia for two months. Simon has been completing a marathon work session and we’ve been busy planning for 2011, so we haven’t had much of a chance to get out and about.

One of our favourite free things to do in Medellin is wander around Plaza Botero in the centre of the city and admire the bulbous sculptures by local artist Fernando Botero. He is famous for his paintings and sculptures of fat people and there are plenty to see here.

When visiting Medellin, Colombia everyone tells you to visit La Piedra del Peñol. The Rock is located about 90 minutes away, near the pretty village of Guatapé. We went along and climbed the 649 steps up the 220 metre monolith.

Last week we took the two hour bus ride to Guatapé, a pretty village of narrow streets and colourful houses. The patterns on the lower half of the houses are actually 3D and are all different.
