Taking my 18 year old to Colombia for a month in June. I've already booked an Avianca flight to Leticia that leaves Bogota at 12:04 pm. As I will have already seen Bogota I want to be in and out quickly. I found a flight from Medellin on Viva Colombia that arrives at 8:05 am the same day. I know nothing about this airline. Could someone give me an insight into Viva Colombia as to their reliability and reputation for being on time.
Numbeo 2016 years statistics say ,that Columbia is cheaper than Bolivia 29 by 37 index points ,and Venezuela 60 points ,however many expats say that you can travel on Venezuela for just $6 /day because of local currency crash.
What is the most affordable South American countries at the moment ?
Do Peru and Bolivia share same living costs ?
Return flights to Peru ,Lima is £150 cheaper from UK ,than to go to La Paz ?
Howdy, I want to stay longer. Anyone with info on who/what/when/where/how with extending the standard tourist visa? I met a guy who told me you go to the immigration office and request it, pay something like 85k pesos.
Sounds plausible but I talked to this guy for a grand total of four minutes, so looking for more substantial info from someone who's maybe done it.
Muchísimas gracias compas!
Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to fly from Bogotá to Mompox (Mompos) ?
Or to close by ?
Or from another city in Colombia ?
In case you can’t fly to Mompox, how can you reach it by public transport ?
From Bogotá or from Cartagena (or perhaps from Santa Marta) ?
Thank you very much !
Hi all, I am considering moving to Colombia for teaching job! I want to take my dog, she's a Boxer mix and about 50 lbs. I am having trouble finding current info on getting dogs in and out of the country, most of what I am finding online is 2-3 years old, like this http://www.petrelocation.com/resources/international-regulations/colombia.
Can anyone provide more recent info?
Do you know if there is any kind of connection by boat/ship from Colombia to Dominican Republic?
I am trying to find the cheapest way to transport from Colombia to Dominican Republic, would you propose a certain route or some tips?
Thank you :)
Hi everyone! I will be taking a short trip to Colombia in August and will only have 4 days in Cartagena, 2 days in Tayrona National Park, and 4 days in Medellin. We would like to see as much nature as possible. Are there any outdoor activites/scenery close enough for a day trip from Cartagena and Medellin that anyone can recommend? Thanks!
I offer you this info, Lonely Planeteers, so that you may learn from my mistakes.
I had booked a flight from Bogota->San Salvador->LAX->Auckland with Avianca. They wouldn't let me board without proof of onward travel, but no one in the airport could sell me a ticket. Also, there's no wifi except for a spotty connection at Cafe Oma downstairs.
If you're flying out of BOG, make sure you have proof of onward travel from your destination country (ticket rental sites are good for this). Otherwise…
Hope all is well. I've been offered the opportunity to teach English in Colombia for year, as part of a fellowship program that will help me secure a visa and job. The program has asked that I indicate my preferred placement locations, and since I've never been to the country, I was hoping you all might provide some guidance.
Firstly: the monthly stipend is a flat 1,500,000 COP. I'm having trouble getting a sense of how much that is. I have a bit of savings, and definitely don't…
just a quick question, I will be in Cali late May, I leave from Bogota 2 weeks later,
3 main objectives, Zona Cafeteria, Medellin & Cartagena ( in the previous 2 weeks
will have been to Bogota and Amazones), so any need to book accommodation now
or as I would prefer to do, leave it until the last minute when I am in Cali?
This is from an availability and cost perspective!
