Hi all!

I have a quick Q for anyone Colombian/who knows a bit more about the visa system. I'm due to arrive in Colombia on 30 September. I'm doing some volunteer work with an organisation for 6 weeks, but am still technically a full-time student through my university because the volunteer work goes towards my degree. Does anyone know if it's necessary for me to purchase the $395 volunteer visa or if I can possibly get away with the $100ish student visa option. (Obviously I'd much prefer that…

Hi everyone,

I have done a lot of reading, research and seeking recommendations but as with everyone my itinerary is slightly individual so I would really appreciate the advice of people who have done similar parts of my trip. My main question is:
1. I'll be in Colombia in October. I arrive in Cartagena as the beginning of the month. Realistically, is the rain going to impact on the trip? Will some things not be recommended e.g. cuidad perdida, amazon, pacific coast?

and also, any general…

After reading that it is the rainy season, having 5 days in each city, would you recommend to fly from Bogota to Cartagena bus to Medellin then fly to Bogota We prefer large cities as we discover the history and the beautiful
Museums etc.

I just came back from Caño Cristales. Very good trip and way easier than it seemed on the internet. So YES, you CAN go by road to la Macarena, no problem. From Bogota, you can go directly to San Vincente del Caguan, or, otherwise, go to Florencia, and from there a share taxi to San Vicente; That's what I did (i didn't even know that they had direct buses to San Vicente). From San Vicente shares taxi leave daily at 8am, 9am and 12:30pm for La Macarena. There is a direct bus San Vicente - Bogota…

We are exploring organising a 3 day, 2 night sailing trip starting and ending in Cartagena. We are currently 4 people and are looking for 1 or 2 other couples (happy for singles but we aim to split the boat based on rooms, the boat has 4 double beds). Price would be $500us per couple for four couples not including food and drinks. We would need to self cater and ideally we would like to be cooking together (two of us are vegos). Aiming to depart on the 26th of August. If you are interested…

Hello there! I'm planning to go to Quibdo for 5 days (August 20th-25th). I'll be volunteering at CEPA (Centro Educativo Pacifico) which is sponsored by a non-profit organization called "Corporacion Choco Joven". I will be teaching English to the children who go to CEPA. I would like to know what to take with me besides the basics (i.e. mosquito repellant, umbrella, poncho, etc). This will be my first time going there and I'm a bit concerned about vaccinations (yellow fiber and malaria) and…

Hi :)
I am going to Colombia next week, and mostly interested in trekking. Can anyone give me some information about El Cocuy and Los Nevados?
I understood the 6 days circuit in El Cocuy is closed, but what about shorter hikes (3-4 days)? Is it possible and recommended in this time of the year? I find different info on different web sites..
How is Los Nevados comparing to El Cocuy? Is it more recommended for this time of the year?
Do I need a guide to any of these hikes, or can I find maps in…
