Club entertainment in Colombia

  1. Mango’s

This upscale disco is tricked out in a western theme – all the waiters are dressed like cowboys. Scantily clad models and dwarfs dance for the crowds. The city’s rich and beautiful come here to show off – it’s among the most expensive nightclubs in Medellín.

  2. Blue Deep

The biggest disco in town holds 700 sweaty bodies. There is live music (salsa and reggaetón), which provides the soundtrack for a decent mix of locals and tourists, stumbling about after too many frothy rum punches.

    Quiebra Canto

Name-dropped first – for years now – by salsa-seekers across town, the Canto is a double-level disco a short walk from La Candelaria. Wednesday is big with expats for electronica DJs, but weekends go for live salsa.

    Barbar

This three-level discotheque booms out electronic, reggae, salsa and merengue. The upstairs VIP room is all white padding and silver chrome, as if it had been designed by IKEA.

  5. Éxtasis

This good disco is one with TV screens (soccer, of course) and three rows of lounge chairs for those that prefer voyeurism. You can recoup COP$12,000 of the cover in cocktails.

    Indigo Bar

Lively, two-level disco that attracts students with cheap booze and loud rock and salsa music. There are several other student-oriented discos on this corner.

This flashy place has a dance floor, video screens and blaring music. It also serves food and expensive margaritas.

    Antifaz

This rough-around-the-edges salsoteca draws a student crowd that can tolerate its abhorrent sound system. It's the only place in La Candelaria with a reasonably sized dance floor.
