Getting there & away
There are several ways to approach the Caribbean coast. The easiest option is to fly to one of the main cities - there are even some direct flights to Cartagena from North America and Europe, negating the need to fly via Bogotá. You could also approach by land from Venezuela, Medellín or Bucaramanga - the main routes are paved and there are frequent bus connections. Another option is to travel via Mompós, although minor roads are not paved and travel often requires a river crossing.
