Lonely Planet review for Street Vendors
Very characteristic of Cartagena are butifarras (small smoked meatballs), only sold on the street by butifarreros, who walk along with big pots, striking them with a knife to get your attention. The peto is a sort of milk soup made of maize, similar to Antioquian mazamorra, sweetened with panela (unrefined sugar) and served hot. It, too, is only sold by street vendors.

Smells like Heaven, but it may take you to Hell.
jrgomez does not recommend this,
Be awarded, the street food vendors in Cartagena is not the best option for delicate tourists’ stomachs (or locals’).
Many vendors approach tourists at the beaches and here starts….. Like annoying flies surround the victim and, very insistently, shows and gives little samples (that later you’ll be charged for all of them) of “ceviche”, oysters, crab, fried fish, fruit, ice creams, sodas, beer, and every that you can and can’t imagine will pass in front of your eyes (sun glasses, sand toys, swimming suits, hair ornaments even massages as well).
The best way to avid them is to ignore them, or very polite show them that you are not interested… Don’t start an argument.
I really don’t recommend the street vendor food, is better try the local delicacy in restaurants (cost the same and is cleaner), but if you want to try it, stick with the fruits.
