Lonely Planet review for Pastelería Florida

Those needing a bit of pomp or history with their chocolate santafereño should make the hike to this classic snack shop/restaurant (a legendary spot for hot chocolate since 1936), with uniformed waiters serving up a variety of cakes.

    Typical Bogota breakfast

    jrgomez recommends this,

Located in a central spot, in one of the busiest avenues in Bogota (the 7nth Avenue) this restaurant has more than 70 year old tradition.

Looks like a small budget cafeteria, but you’ll find always people getting in. In this big café, the famous local breakfast or “Desayuno Santafereño” (Bogota’s name is Santafe de Bogota), have all: coffee or hot chocolate with cheese (hot cacao bean beverage, and you put small pieces of cheese), bread, orange juice, eggs and a variety of “tamales” (Typical dish, cooked and served between banana leaves).

All day long they serve coffee and chocolate, but you also can find lunch plates as well.

You can get there in Sundays morning by the “Ciclovía”, (most of the 7nth avenue is free for pedestrians and bicycles from 7 am to 2pm all Sundays), and is near the mayor flea market in Bogotá, the national museum, the gold museum.

If you really want to see the locals and eat as one, this is a place that you have to visit.

Is really cheap, you won’t believe it.
