Lonely Planet review

Poised for business (like nearly all North Bogotá hotels), the squat Casa Dann Carlton faces zooming Avenida 30, but is a walkable half-kilometre from Parque 93's chic eating, drinking and dancing scene. A huge plus is the lovely fifth-floor pool with arched skylight and views over west Bogotá.

With 12 conference rooms, you'll be mingling with lots of well-dressed, name-tagged locals. The carpeted rooms are nice enough, if a little lifeless: striped wallpaper, a dining table and work desk next to the dresser, TV, plus a stereo if you can't wait for Shakira to come on the radio. Most come with king-size beds, all have Internet access (including wi-fi). Breakfast buffet is served in the Italian restaurant on the ground floor; if you haven't time to stroll the ten minutes east to Parque 93, there's a lunch buffet too. Rooms facing Avenida 30 will pick up some engine roar. Perhaps because business is the name of the game, staff - including a lobby travel agency - seem a bit formal.
