Head into the mountains of Zipaquirá to visit two underground cathedrals carved out of salt. Learn from your expert guide how the salt cathedrals wwere originally built in the salt mine. The 246-foot long (75-meter) Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral first opened in 1954, and was then closed for safety reasons. But in 1991, the structure was rebuilt and 250,000 tons of salt was removed for the re-opening. Explore the dimly lit tunnels of the mine as your guided around the cathedral.
