It’s come to our attention that there’s an error in the Beijing city guide. (We printed the map from page 291 on page 293.)

We’ve fixed the ebook and the digital chapters, but if you’ve bought a copy of the book already you can get a corrected copy of pages 292 and 293 here.

Chinese Visa Sticky

Until recently, it was relatively easy to get a Chinese visa. The situation has changed beginning about mid March and it is expected to remain unstable until well after the Olympics.
It is now impossible to get a 6 or 12 month multiple entry business visa.
It is now impossible to get entries longer than 30 days.
In many embassies and consulates it would appear impossible to get a double entry tourist visa.
It has been reported that beginning July, it may be difficult to impossible to get…

Trip to Xi'an: Some advice on airport connection and local experiences

I have got so many info from LP and want to make contribution now.

The international airport of Xi'an is located in XianYang, which is about 30 km from the city center. The only public transport is the airport bus, every 20 min. The service is good. However, sometimes when people travel with family or have lots of luggage or late flights, it's not usually convenient for them to catch the airport bus. The airport bus only takes you to the downtown but Xi'an is huge.... you need to get to your…

Trip to Xiamen - Questions about planning and costs

Hi all,
I am planning to go to Xiamen with my mother in late May/ early June. We are thinking of spending about 9-10 days, 3-4 in Xiamen and the rest in Fuzhou with our relatives. Our flight route would be SIN-XMN and XMN-SIN returning. I have several questions to ask-
1. When should I book my flight to get the best deals? I am thinking of Singapore Airlines as currently it is $1268 for 2.
2. Which hotel that you recommend is cheap yet of good quality? I am thinking of Pan Pacific currently at…

Extending a 60 Day Chinese Visa

Hi - so I asked for a 90 day visa but they're giving me a 60 day one - not the end of the world. I'd still like to spend three months in China, though, if possible. Is it harder to extend a 60 day visa than a 30 day one? Also - is there any point trying to extend it anymore than a week or so before it expires. If at all possible I'd like to do it about a month in. Many thanks!
