For the full run-down on everything you need to know about visas and entry requirements for China, including prices and detailed processing times, check out the China page: http://ww…
As obtaining a Chinese tourist visa appears to have gotten much easier, that long sticky thread has now been released to float. OTOH there appear to be increased concerns and lots of issues related to obtaining a tourist visa extension.
It is my intention to search through and try to collect some posted information here in this thread but would appreciate others offering first hand information and questions here rather than starting multiple threads.

Confused about what type of visa I should be getting. A colleague and I (both Masters degree trained professionals) have been invited to facilitate training with staff at a school in Beijing for 10 days for a small amount of pay. What type of visa does this fit under?
I'm in a situation where a school is flying me and a colleague from Toronto to Beijing to facilitate some very short term training with staff at her school. We have requested to be reimbursed for our flights before we go (we're now realizing we should have had her purchase the flights but it's too late to negotiate this now). She has stated that she will reimburse us via email money transfer before we leave. Being that we have trouble communicating via regular email, it seems like an email…

I am in Zhangjiajie from the for three days in July I would like to go to Hongjiang Old Town and Qiangyan both south of Huaihua. My plan was to do it all by bus as the trains seem to be all booked out. Does anybody know whether there are buses going from Zhangjiajie to Huaihua (how often and how long does it take).
Then from Hongjiang Old Town I wanted to go to Chongqing. However, this seems to turn into a bit of a nightmare as the trains from Huaihua to Chongqing are fully booked out…

My friends and I are visiting Kham in July, and are thinking of flying from Chengdu to Kangding. Once there, we plan to hire a car to drive us to our next destination, most likely either Litang or Tagong. We would prefer not to go back into Kangding itself, since that is the wrong direction. Does anyone know if there are drivers and cars available at the Kangding Airport?
