Móxī Getting there & around

Getting there & away

Most visitors to Móxī arrive on a tour bus and the public transport system is erratic, if it runs at all. Most locals scoot around on motorbikes or catch a ride to Lúdìng (Y20) in one of the minibuses that ply between the two towns. These leave from the crossroads at the top end of town.

There is supposedly a 7am bus to Lúdìng (Y15, two hours) but don’t count on it. Ditto Chéngdū (8.30am, eight hours, Y95). The owner of the Bīngchuān Fàndiàn will be able to help you out with transport. Change at Lúdìng for Chéngdū and Kāngdìng. If you’re headed to Shímián, get off the bus at Māozìpíng, on the other side of the bright-orange Rainbow Bridge. From here you can flag down a southbound bus.

To reach Móxī, get off your bus in Lúdìng from where you can grab a minibus to Móxī (Y20). Travelling from the south via Shímián, get off at Māozìpíng and flag down a minicab to Móxī from there. If you’re coming from Yǎ’ān, get the driver to let you off at Gāngǔdì (), from where you can get a taxi (Y20, one hour).
