Bātáng Getting there & around

Getting there & away

There are daily buses to Lǐtáng (Y59, six hours, 7am), Kāngdìng (Y138, two days via Lǐtáng) and Chéngdū (Y231, two days via Yǎjiāng). The road to Lǐtáng is under major construction until God knows when, so expect serious delays. The bus station is a 10-minute walk from the town centre.

Headed west, there are buses at 2pm (Y44, four hours) and afternoon microbuses (Y50) to Markham, 138km away inside Tibet. Foreigners will have problems buying tickets to Markham as the town is officially closed.

From Kāngdìng, a bus leaves for Bātáng (Y138) each morning at 6.45am, overnighting in Lǐtáng. Buses from Lǐtáng to Bātáng (Y59) leave daily at 7.30am.
