A lot has changed about the Chinese visa situation, so I thought it might be useful to provide a summary of the current situation as we and our writers understand it. For the full run-down on everything you need to know about visas and entry requirements for China, including prices and detailed processing times, check out the China page: http://ww…
As obtaining a Chinese tourist visa appears to have gotten much easier, that long sticky thread has now been released to float. OTOH there appear to be increased concerns and lots of issues related to obtaining a tourist visa extension.
It is my intention to search through and try to collect some posted information here in this thread but would appreciate others offering first hand information and questions here rather than starting multiple threads.

Hey, everyone ~ first off a big THANK YOU, because we have scoured this forum for advice as we've mapped out our 3-week trip to China (to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary!) & the knowledge found here has been a world of help.
We have a pretty good idea of how we plan to trek our way from Beijing to Hong Kong, but are still flexible & would really appreciate any recommendations on the best methods of transportation and modest but nice places to stay, along with any must-see sights…
Anybody been to Ningde, Fujian? Not a lot of info to be found regarding public transportation. I have a work commitment there, and just wondering how to get around the city via city/public bus (especially to/from train station). Not a fan of taxis...thks!
I would like to go to China and teach english. Any advice with regards to short term, summer school teaching jobs in China? I’ve seen lots of adverts for 6 week stints which are the sort of thing I’m looking.
I find a Teaching-Agency: www.teaching-experience.com
But I am not realy sure if will go with this Teaching-Agency to China :).
I went to the embassy of China in Teheran today for A Visa Application and got rejected - immediately, no discussion. Totally disillusioned I went to an agency and asked for help. They said China does not issue Any visas for non-Iranians till 8. September due to G20 in China.
Does anyone have information about that? How reliable is it?
Guys - thank you from Teheran.
I have searched extensively on the boards and read the useful 'Visas for China' post and 'Entry & Exit Formalities' page of the China pages, but find myself still needing more detailed advice.
I have cycled by bicycle from England to Athens over the summer and am currently planning the next stage of my journey. I will travel through Turkey > The Caucasus > Central Asia > on my way to India > S.E. Asia > China > and Japan.
Ideally I'd like to cross from Kyrgyzstan into China at…
