Lonely Planet review

This classy 555-room hotel, spanning the top 34 floors of the majestic Jinmao Tower, remains one of Shànghǎi’s finest. Its once unimpeachable standard for quality high-rise hotel living in Shànghǎi attracted inevitable competition, but an ongoing floor-by-floor refurbishment has pepped up rooms. Dramatic-looking Tang-dynasty poems are inscribed in gold above lovely beds, while espresso-making machines, smart tan-leather work desks and inviting bathrooms round out a luxurious picture. Corner rooms are coveted, the neck-craning 33-storey atrium is always astonishing, while service remains highly attentive, restaurants (such as On 56) are outstanding and the views stratospheric.

Our independent authors have visited Grand Hyatt Shanghai and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Shànghǎi.
