It’s come to our attention that there’s an error in the Beijing city guide. (We printed the map from page 291 on page 293.)
We’ve fixed the ebook and the digital chapters, but if you’ve bought a copy of the book already you can get a corrected copy of pages 292 and 293 here.
Until recently, it was relatively easy to get a Chinese visa. The situation has changed beginning about mid March and it is expected to remain unstable until well after the Olympics.
It is now impossible to get a 6 or 12 month multiple entry business visa.
It is now impossible to get entries longer than 30 days.
In many embassies and consulates it would appear impossible to get a double entry tourist visa.
It has been reported that beginning July, it may be difficult to impossible to get…
Hello Fellow Travelers,
I would like to know if there is a way to get to somewhere around Sichuan, coming from Lhasa by land.
I found the Sichuan - Tibet Highway (Chengdu - Lhasa) but I don't know if it's possible to do the other way around.
I also found a bunch of train rides departing from different Chinese cities going to Lhasa, but couldn't find any routes from Lhasa to China, neither round trips.
Please, help!! :)
Thank you guys
Japan Travel Agency (in Hong Kong) (http://www.jta.biz/chinavisa/), which has been around for years, will stop doing China Visas on 25 October, 2014. I'm not sure why. Other agencies seem to be operating OK. Nothing appears to have changed on the Visa Office's Website: http://www.fmcoprc.gov.hk/eng/fwxx/wgrqz/
This isn't, strictly speaking, a travel-related question, but I'm hoping I might get some good responses on here anyway. I'm traveling to mainland China soon, and one of the things I want to do while I'm there is pick up a good quantity of books. I know little about Chinese literature, and have struggled to find my way into it. Most of the books I've read in Chinese have been translations from other languages. I've read a few Chinese (and Taiwanese authors), such as Mo Yan (terrible), Yu…

I'm hoping to visit the Yunhe Rice Terraces this weekend form Shanghai, but am having a lot of difficulty finding lodging in or around there. Even within Lishui City I haven't been able to find anything good. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Open to staying in hostels or camping as well. Thanks!
I just searched on tripadvisor for hotels in Guilin and Yangshuo and got a confusing result, can anybody here suggest one or two nice hotels in Guilin and Yangshuo within a budget of 500RMB per night? Will be there in late Nov.
Jingning (Hexi), south of Lishui, is home to the She ethnic minority.
Is this area worth a look or stop over?
If so, I'd appreciate any details on your journey there and what you did.
I am leaving for a 6 months trip to Asia in January. I'm backpacking through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, etc. The last 1-2 months i am going to finish the trip in China and Japan.
If I've understood the Visa-rules correctly, this could be a problem for me. You have to get a Visa prior to arriving, if you don't arrive in Hong Kong, is this correct? Anyways, if i get the Visa before January, i won't be able to use it in April/May when I am planning on arriving in China, as that is passed the 3…
