Hi everyone,
I'm Lonely Planet's destination editor for China. The previous post on this topic had gotten very long and was started several years ago. A lot has changed about the Chinese visa situation, so I thought it might be useful to provide a summary of the current situation as we and our writers understand it. For the full run-down on everything you need to know about visas and entry requirements for China, including prices and detailed processing times, check out the China page: http://ww

Hi, we're trying to plan our first 3 weeks trip in China but we can't figure out an itinerary. We are quite experienced travellers but we don't speak chinese and our budget is a maximum of 40 dollars per day per person. We will start on august 15th. I think the first week will be in Beijing, Datong, Pingyao and Xian. From here there are 2 options: 1) chengdu and surroundings-songpan-jiuzhaigou-langmusi-xiahe- xining-xian- beijing (no flights, only train and buses) 2) silk road to urumqui (or…

Hi,
I wonder if it's possible to book domestic flights in China from Europe (with a europea credit card) through spring airlines website. Has anyone tried this company? Can you suggest me some other low cost airlines for domestic flights in China? I thought you could find everything on Ctrip, but actually I can't find spring airlines flights in it.
thank you
