Brasil Steak House
For an artery-clogging carrion feast, carnivores will be doing cartwheels. Who would have thought that a Brazilian churrascaria (an all-you-can-handle barbecue steak buffet) would be all the rage in Shanghai? There's also an all-you-can-eat salad bar, but hey, that's for weenies. It's next to Jing'an Park, with another branch opposite the Shanghai Library.

Stonegrill
Don't complain when your food arrives half-cooked - it's supposed to be that way. Steak or fish comes sunny-side up and sizzling on a slab of stone; you turn it over to suit your taste. Whether you consider this a half-baked idea or fall for it, you'll love the excellent New York-style bar. There is also a pasta selection.

Red Stone Bar & Grill
One of the newer restaurants contributing to the renaissance of Tsim Sha Tsui East, this waterfront venue serves up some truly great steaks and fresh oysters (around HK$160 for half dozen). For lunch, try the pizzas.

Steak Expert
OK, so it's part of a chain. But the steaks are excellent value for what they serve, and this branch is in the heart of Wan Chai and keeps very long (and relatively late) hours. Just watch out for the pepper sauce.

Henry's Home Cafe
Henry's is a mainstay in Nánjīng, serving up good pasta, pizza, fajitas and steak dishes. Service is competent and it accommodates vegetarians. There's another branch just outside Shīzi Qiáo.

Lardos Steak House
If you’re in Tseung Kwan O, this tiny steakhouse owned by a seasoned meat supplier is your best option for a meal. The succulent chunks of meat are attractively priced ($239 for a 16-oz T-bone steak).
