    The Bathhouse is relaxing and rejuvenating.

    The Bathhouse is totally relaxing and rejuvenating once you're in the warm, spring water. It eased my initial shock of having to go in completely naked!

    Set underneath what seemed to be a prestigious hotel, the walk down the stairs led to the right for the women's area and the left for the men. Once inside the large, spacious locker room, I was given a towel half the size of a tea towel by a female attendant. I got into my bikini and started to walk towards the bath area when the female attendant signed to me that I had to take my bikini off.

    Not comfortable with this, I decided to have selective hearing (or shoild I say seeing) and just took my bikini top off, covered my chest with what seemed like a handkerchief and walked again towards the doors. I was stopped again and I had to make a choice of walking in completely naked or leave. As this was the main reason for me coming to Changbai Shan i decided I would step outside my comfort zone and just do it. There i was covering my modesty below with this handkerchief and my chest with my other hand.

    Once I got inside, i was a little disappointed to see three square pools next to each other, like swimming pools. I was expecting water pools surrounded by rocks or something remotely natural looking. I put my handkerchief down and walked towards the pool, through the cross examination of the Chinese women who seemed to stop all talk and action to watch me. I felt so violated. The water was lovely. My hair felt great, my skin felt great and i could feel the stress of the situation just melt away as I lay back in the pool with my eyes closed.

    I was incredibly excited to see an outdoor pool - exactly what I had imagined - bathing in hot water, surrounded by ice-capped mountain peaks. The thrill of breathing in cold air and feeling it tingle my face while my body was comfortably enveloped in hot water. It was like paradise. As i paddled my way from one end of the pool to the other I was shocked to the pit of my stomach to see an old Chinese man watching me! I was out of that pool like a bolt of lightening - towel or no towel.

    All in all, it was the perfect way to rejuvenate myself from the trek around Changbai Shan.
