Weather
Subtropical Húnán has more temperate forested elevations in the east, west and south. The northern half’s climate is more fickle, with plunging winter temperatures and snow; the orange-growing south is more bearable. From April to June expect grey skies and most of the province’s annual 125cm to 175cm of rain; thereafter, July and August are pressure-cooking months of heat and humidity.
