Ocean Park is an amusement park with a roller coaster and other stomach-turning rides. It is also a marine park, with dolphin and killer whale shows, seals and sea lions, a shark aquarium and aviaries featuring the 'Amazing Birds' theatre.

The park is divided into two sections. The main entrance is on the lowland side, where there are gardens and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Giant Panda Habitat, home to An An and Jia Jia. It is linked to the main section on the headland, where most of the attractions are found, by a scenic (and hair-raising) cable car. The headland section affords beautiful views of the South China Sea and at the rear entrance, where a giant escalator will bring you down to Tai Shue Wan and Shum Wan Rd, is the Middle Kingdom, a sort of Chinese cultural village with temples, pagodas and traditional street scenes.

Ocean Park is great place to spend the day for couples and families alike. There are short, fun, carnival-like rides as well as shows featuring trained dolphins and seals. Seems like a small park, but you can really spend the entire day there. Ocean Park is a relatively inexpensive park (compared to Disneyland) with a heavy emphasis on family fun and the environment.

Easily reached by scenic double decker bus routes which run hourly, Ocean Park is a great place to spend the day. You can purchase your bus ticket and your gate pass at the bus terminal and it was easy to find. from directions because everything is written in 3 languages including english. Because the park is built into the hillside you get an opportunity to get to the next level of attractions via two storey escalators - 3 of them. You can also take the gondolas across to the other side of the park to see the pandas and get a panoramic view of the bay. Prices for rides and shows were reasonable and worthwhile. I enjoyed my morning and afternoon there. Wish I would have had more than a 1 day stay while on my way home. I was travelling alone on this leg of the journey but felt completely safe and at ease while there. Panda access was limited through a glass window as the entire exhibit was under renovations which was a real let down but that's the breaks. Good family activity and a way to spend a leisurely day in Hong Kong.
