Lonely Planet review for Woodlands

In its latest location above a department store, good old Woodlands continues to offer excellent-value Indian vegetarian food to compatriots and the odd local. Dithering gluttons should order the thali meals ($70 to $75), which arrive on a round metal plate with 10 tiny dishes, a dessert and bread.

    Dosa and Lassi

    elisabethheimdal recommends this,

Woodlands is an excellent vegetarian restaurant in Hong Kong. The food is inexpensive, tasty and exotic. Reading the menu can be a little difficult, as the names do not really tell you what the dishes are, unless you speak urdu. Luckily, there are pictures and some short explanations to help you making your choice. Most dishes are from Southern India, but the menu also includes classical Punjabi dishes. The restaurant is popular among tourists and Indians living in Hong Kong, and it can be quite noisy when it fills up with Indian families with children. A recommandation is to try one of the many dosas (lentil pancake with vegetable filling) with a mango lassi. The service is not as good as in many Chinese restaurants, but the glorious food makes up for it!
