'Soy-sauce Western' cuisine is believed to have been invented by the original Tai Ping Koon in Guǎngzhōu. Today hearty classics such as braised ox tongue, 'Swiss' chicken wings and, of course, Russian borscht, are still served in neat, if slightly worn, surrounds by waiters who've been here for decades.
Come for the tea sets (from HK$55) if you don't mind smaller portions and limited options. Tai Ping Koon has branches in Central, Yau Ma Tei and Tsim Sha Tsui.
