One of the most enjoyable ways to spend an evening in Hk.

    hazari_akhil recommends this,

I highly recommend checking it out, it has honestly become one of my favourite spots in Hk, a night of alcohol and laughs, don't know what else to ask for. Also it's convenient location allows you to walk over and join the masses drinking in LKF after the show.

    Must-do Hong Kong activity

    global_trekker recommends this,

The club has really evolved over the years now offering a range of comedy styles and shows - from stand-up, improv, Campfire, festivals to themes ranging from ethnicity, gender and language. I am a regular show goer, bringing out-of-town guests, colleagues, family and friends who have all enjoyed the shows. Recommend anyone looking for a different side of Hong Kong to check it out!

Good for: live entertainment, laughs, first-time visitors, depressed folks

    Not good for: bores

    Fun but not great.

    cms123 does not recommend this,

It was fun, but nothing too special. There were only 2 really funny comedians when we went. Not sure it's really deserving of the number 1 title. If you have nothing better to do on a Saturday night then it's worth the trip, otherwise you can probably find something more entertaining to do in HK. Perhaps we went on an off night.

A gem in the concrete jungle

    wackytravelers recommends this,

TakeOut Comedy Club is definitely a yummy treat!!!
Having been here numerous times, I must say that it is the best place to go for getting some laughs and starting the night. The setup is wonderful, unlike some comedy clubs in the states, this is more intimate and friendly. You can always walk up and chat with the owner :)
Never will you find such variations of comedians anywhere in the world!!!
Everyone coming to HK should stop by TakeOut for an awesome experience.
One of the perks of this place is that you can BYOB and there's a 7-11 located just a few steps away ;)
    Enjoy!

    No place like this.

    tungpakfool recommends this,

I'm a local and I have lived in Hong Kong all my life and I'm telling you cool people: There's no place like Take Out Comedy Club in HK. Located in Soho, which is the HK coolest area, Take Out Comedy Club is the only, the ONE AND ONLY spot that you can hear laughters flying around the air every 10 second (approximately) every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. That's right. No Shopping Centers or Ultra-Luxury Brands' Flagship Stores could compare to this Sheer Lively Enjoyment. And you know what you hip Lonely Traveler? Once in a while, you'd meet some local comedians and they would tell you jokes and true life stories that would make you understand this city and enjoy your stay more. To be honest, I'm one of them. And to be honest, You'd love it here.

One of the best nights out in Hong Kong!

    plasticrover recommends this,

An experience that is truly unique in Hong Kong! I have been to a few shows now - both in their basement club and at the Champs bar - and both thoroughly enjoyed them all! It is a great way to escape reality and work; immersing yourself in some quality comedy for a few hours! The later days in the week are dedicated to stand up shows of a high calibre whilst Tuesdays is open mic. The visitors that night are all would be standuppers so the atmosphere is very supportive!

I also popped along the the comedy workshop that is held on a monthly basis and I found it fascinating in terms of picking up tips for public speaking.

Jami the owner and host of the course is a very personable chap who takes a real interest in producing a unique experience for his visitors whether they are there to sit back and enjoy or there to try and learn the craft of the stand upper!

    Good for: laughs, comedy

Fantastic Experience. More than I could ask!

    AllenYiu recommends this,

I would highly recommend takeout comedy to amateur comics or aspiring comics. even as an amateur comic who didn't take any classes with takeout comedy. Jami came over after my set to provide constructive criticism, which, you hardly ever see anywhere else.
Jami takes the time to talk to you on growth as a comic. He's the real deal!!! super nice guy!

i would also recommend takeout comedy for people who are just looking to laugh. with a variety of different comics every night, you get all kinds of styles of comedy.

Good for: laughs, a good night out, taking it easy, humour, aspiring comics

    a funny night out

    wzq recommends this,

I've been to the Takeout Comedy several times now and I recommend it to anybody who is in Hong Kong and want to see a live show. They have shows every week from Thursday to Saturday.

A rogue gallery of local comedians perform for regular shows and American stand-up comedians are also brought in monthly to headline shows.

The humor is around PG-13 most of the time, sometimes R-rated depending on the comedian. Probably better for adults or couples.

Takeout Comedy also hosts monthly storytelling shows (called Campfire) where people tell heartwarming, personal life stories and Improv shows (like Whose Line Is It Anyway) for a live interactive comedy experience.

Stand-up comedy classes are offered every month by the owner Jami Gong and you are invited to try out your jokes every Tuesday at English open mic if you want to give stand-up comedy a try!

You can bring your own drinks, that's a plus! Go for a night of laughter!

Good for: laughs, a fun night out, a date, comedy fans

Not good for: handicapped (in a basement)

Such a great service to Hong Kong and Asian culture. The world laughs at this club. The audience and comedians come from such diverse cultural backgrounds that on any given night you will feel as if you had been to a really funny UN meeting...in a basement.

Takeout Comedy Club is just what the doctor ordered

    hebrewlady recommends this,

I was first invited to Takeout Comedy by a coworker in 2008 when I moved to Hong Kong from the US....since then, I have been a fan! Why Takeout Comedy? The diversity of comedians and comedy styles is a big draw. Local talent is promoted as well as comedians who share their talents internationally. I have been to many shows and I haven't been disappointed. Yes the front row is the best seat in the house! Many kudos to Jami Gong and his staff. They are very personable and energetic. Although I have moved to another country, I already have tickets on hold for my trip to HK next week.....can't visit HK without attending a Takeout Comedy Show! Don't miss out!

    Good for: entertainment

    Takeout Comedy rocks the house!

    crazyphoneguy recommends this,

After arriving in Hong Kong in March of 2011 I made it my business to go to Takeout Comedy immediately. Jami Gong, the owner of the club has through incredible vision created the comedy scene in Hong Kong with this first full-time comedy club in HK. He is ambitious. He is creating the Cantonese comedy scene as well.

I came to HK with no friends, and through my involvement with a weely open-mic, and Moth (not Campfire) have made ton of friends and had quite a lot of stage time... remarkable in that I am not a professional comedian. The place is a great place to bring friends, and the space is intimate...perfect for a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night out....perfect for a date. The local comedians are incredible, and Jami Gong brings in headliners every few weeks which fills the club. There's something incredible and magical siting in the basement listening to first rate comedy (in English) in Hong Kong! It's a must go-to place if you are visiting Hong Kong for the first time.

Definitely check the place out to be entertained..and if you ever had the slightest desire to perform.. Takeout Comedy is a great place to nurture your inner Eddie Murphy or Jerry Seinfeld.

    garjac recommends this,

If you want a buffet of different types of comedy every Thursday through Saturday - TakeOutComedy.com is the place! Not to mention the monthly big acts such as Paul Ogata, Ruben Paul, Kerry Louise, Al Durcharme, Tom Cotter - and the list goes on and on... There is always the occasional international comedy star who pops in to do a quick set...

Open Mic on Tuesdays allows anyone to get up and try their luck at 5 minutes of fame - not to mention the Comedy Workshops that are held once a month - to teach you how to do standup comedy by the owner, operator Jami Gong.

Beware the content of the comedy is PG-13 - occasionally NC-17 - so not always good for the youngsters - but always a GREAT time!

FYI. Get your drinks at the 7-11 next door and get your drink on while laughing your butt off!

Good for: Standup Comedy, dating, sharing laughs with the locals, ALL comedy fans!, romantic night out

Not good for: heckling, using the bathroom every 5 min

    Always a great night out!

    kpgeorge recommends this,

If you need a good laugh, this is the place! I have been to TOC more times than I can count and I have never left disappointed! The shows with local HK talent are always great and every couple of months we are treated to some incredible headliners; my personal favorites being Paul Ogata (look him up, he's absolutely hilarious. We've seen him on multiple occasions and every show is different.) and Tom Cotter. Most of the time the comedians hang out after the show as well. It's so much fun to grab a few drinks at a nearby bar, but it's hard to finish your drink without most of it coming out your nose because you are still laughing so hard. The owner, Jami Gong, is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met. Ten thumbs up!!

    Good for: side-splitting laughter

    mudcha recommends this,

Had a great time there! Sat in the 2nd row and got picked on by the comedians but my girlfriend enjoyed that so it was well worth it. Then hung out with the comedians, a bunch of cool people who made me laugh even after the show.
Go there any weekend, they have shows all the time.

    TakeOut Comedy has lots happening...!

    paintandwrite recommends this,

TOC has a variety of comedy from amateurs to pros who perform stand up and improv. And, the newly added "Campfire" storytelling night is really heartwarming. There are workshops (sometimes free!) and lots of ways to get involved. Jami Gong is an amazing mentor for anyone who wants to develop a stand up act or for someone who wants stage time to improve public speaking and presentation skills. On top of all that, Jami puts on a lot of charity shows to help out animals and other groups in need. Check out the website and then go check it out. TOC---I love it...

Good for: a relaxed fun evening.

    TakeOut Comedy is the Greatest!

    DogCalledDill recommends this,

They have regular shows in Soho with very funny local and expat stand up comedians and every 2 months they bring in a well known stand up comic in from the U.S. They even do 'Improv' shows and once a year organise a 12 hour Comedython (at Champs Bar) to raise money for local charities.

TOC also does great shows with U.S. comedy stars at Champs Bar (at the Charterhouse Hotel on Wanchai Road) every few Thursdays and there you can drink and order good food whilst enjoying the show.

It's a thumbs up for TOC and has got to be one of the best places for live entertainment in Hong Kong.

    BYOB need I say more?

    ryeguy1976 recommends this,

The club is always a lot of fun whether you want to give open mic a try on Tuesdays or just wanna sit back and enjoy local comedy on the weekend. Acts range from very professional to unpolished newbies. That makes for an experience unlike most other comedy clubs. AND... its unofficially BYOB which means that a night at the club ends up saving you money over drinking at the local bars.

A True Comedy Club in HK!

    salsahongkong recommends this,

I frequent this club a few times a month as it offers comedy shows at least 3 times a week so there are many shows to choose from. I love the international shows which are run once a month. The comedians are all very professional and highly skilled, international acts have been on places such as comedy central, david letterman etc so you know you are going to see high quality comedy. Location is excellent as it is right in the heart of soho so you can have a nice little dinner in one of the many restaurants around the club before or after the show. The owner Jami Gong is so friendly and really makes you feel at home. I highly recommend this club to anyone visiting Hong Kong as it really gives you a feeling of our local community in Hong Kong and also lots and lots of laughter ;-))))

    Good for: ALL comedy fans!

    The people at TOC rocks!

    michellezheng recommends this,

What I love about TOC is that the comedians and Jami are genuinely funny and awesome people! Not only are they talented in what they do but they care about their community and they are an integral part of Hong Kong which makes Hong Kong unique the way it is.

Some people go to a show or two. Some are regulars that go to almost all the shows. I have watched a lot of shows at TOC and I have enjoyed tremendously all the shows I have been to! The venue is cozy, the crowd is fun, the atmosphere is buzzing and the comedians just simply rock the house!

You may say 'Sure, that's what comedy clubs are supposed to do!' But TOC is not simply a comedy club, they are unique. They do a lot of charity work as well. They put their talents towards good causes and not a lot of people know this.

So next time you think of visiting the best comedy club in HK, make sure you make a visit to TOC. And if you have no idea what to do for the evening, go for a laugh at TOC!

    Hong Kong Original

    paulsonegbert recommends this,

This place embodies the uniqueness of the Hong Kong social scene-- it's a comedy club in a dark basement, but where both locals and expats perform and create a pretty unique experience. Performers are funny and accessible and it's an easy place to interact with them (the club sponsors happy hours at local bars after the shows where all the performers show up and mingle).

It's a much more comfortable, idiosyncratic and unique experience than your typical comedy club.

Just the right evening of laughs for everyone..

    puifan recommends this,

This small but comfortable space offers chuckles every weekly show. The owner, Jami Gong, always welcomes familiar and new guests to this spot. It is easily located in the midst of the Soho area, where there are lots of restaurants and pubs nearby, and why not end an evening with serious laughter in English and Chinese?

    supasonic recommends this,

It's a great night out in SoHo: dinner and a show. Plus, it is BYOB and 7-Eleven is right next door. You won't be paying for overpriced beer or tickets here. We go to their regular weekly shows, but really enjoy the Paul Ogata shows. Watch your step on the way downstairs.

    Good for: Laughing, Cheap date

This place is an absolute buzz. It's a genuine comedy club and dedicated to comedy and getting people to laugh and have fun. The manager Jami Gong is the real deal - he loves comedy and believes in its power for good. We have so many different religions, languages, beliefs and all the boring rest of it, but it's amazing at what we can share a laugh about. Viva TOC!
