Lonely Planet review for Number 1 Market

The outdoor seafood restaurants either side of this night market are a great place to immerse yourself in the full Chinese experience. The atmosphere is palpably up, the seafood is excellent, and while you're waiting for the meal you can wander off to shop for cheap lingerie, floral shirt sets or myriad other items.

Nice beach, we stayed at the Pullman Resort in a Pool Villa. It has its own pool and an extra room which is like a living room. Very private. We could have stayed in the room for the 3 days. Breakfast was included and was a buffet. lots of variety from chinese, to western and salads. Everything was fresh and tasty. Its not on the beach tho but they do have a private beach up the road and theres a shuttle buggy that takes you to their private beach every ten minutes or so. The first night we went into town for a seafood dinner. Personally I thought it was a little oily and pretty expensive . It was 800 yuans for 5 of us. It was interesting as its a public market where you buy the seafood from vendors and hire a cook to prepare it for you. Also there were 2 different street musicians competing for attention and it got a little loud. The major problem we had was on arrival the taxi offered to take us to our hotel for 140 yuans. It turned out that it only costs about 80 with the meter going. If you go make sure you ask the taxi to turn on the meter and not give you a price. We had an argument when leaving the hotel to go to the airport as there was a man who was threatening the taxi drivers if they didnt charge us the flat price rate. It seemed like the hotel manager was doing some extra charges to certain drivers . The concierge wouldnt call a taxi for us . All in all I dont think we will go back there again.
