Hi everyone,
I'm Lonely Planet's destination editor for China. The previous post on this topic had gotten very long and was started several years ago. A lot has changed about the Chinese visa situation, so I thought it might be useful to provide a summary of the current situation as we and our writers understand it. For the full run-down on everything you need to know about visas and entry requirements for China, including prices and detailed processing times, check out the China page: http://ww

As obtaining a Chinese tourist visa appears to have gotten much easier, that long sticky thread has now been released to float. OTOH there appear to be increased concerns and lots of issues related to obtaining a tourist visa extension.

It is my intention to search through and try to collect some posted information here in this thread but would appreciate others offering first hand information and questions here rather than starting multiple threads.

For starters, Leshan has consistently been…

Hi guys, I found an article about earning money while you traveling to China. It sounds very interesting. Any Ideas? I would love to go China but the trip is too costly. I think this one may help?

I also search on google. Forbes featured them as well.

In july me and my friend will be backpacking china for 24 days in total!

How is china for budget travellers? Can anyone give me a link to CHEAP tours and advice on best ways to travel?

I will choose to do shaanxi, sichuan, guizhou and hunnan provinces as they are next to one another and seem to have the best of what i'd like to see! I have a budget of around 6000/7000 yuan.

Any advice would be great!

kind regards,

Dan

Hi
I am planning to be in China (and I want to cover Yunnan-Sichuan) for 15 days in end May or June.
Does anyone has any clue about the dates for the Shangri-la horse racing festival for 2016? I would love to coincide my time in Shangri-la with the event :)

Thanks

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some input on a China based tour company called Novaland Tours? I found them online and all the reviews on Trip Advisor seem to be great, but Trip Advisor is the only website that mentions this tour company. I am ready to book a trip with them, as all the details and pricing seem too good to be true, but I would like confirmation that this is a legitimate company before spending the money. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Leaving for China in about a week. Will have several days to bird in or around Harbin. Specifically interested in learning: what's birding like in the area? Or is there somewhere nearby (travel within a few hours) that would be much better? If I should travel to bird outside Harbin, any advice on where to stay? Finally, can you recommend any local guides that speak English and are not outrageous in cost for a 1 or 2- day tour? THANKS.

Going on an escorted tour to China for 19 days Aug.31. So I have no questions as to where to go and what to do.
All transfers from airports to hotels, in country flights, buses and a 4 day river cruise etc are all included. Almost all meals are included. I think only a couple of meals are my responsibility.

But what I would like to know is, what vaccinations should I be getting? I'm a senior so certain situations probably won't apply to me, like Hep-B, Darn it.

Wherever I go I always like to…
