Getting there & away

You can fly to more than 40 destinations within China from Guìyáng’s airport, including all major Chinese cities. International destinations include Bangkok.

Guìyáng and Chóngqìng are linked by an expressway. Yúnnán is accessible by bus via Wēiníng in the west or Xīngyì in the south of the province. From Xīngyì you can also cross into Guǎngxī, which can also be accessed through Cóngjiāng in the southeastern part of the province.

There are daily train departures to all major cities in China; sleepers to Chéngdū in Sìchuān or Kūnmíng in Yúnnán are popular options. Trains to Guìlín leave at awkward times and are painfully slow. If you’re heading down this way, your best bet is to take a train to Liǔzhōu in Guǎngxī and change for a bus to Guìlín there.
