Yángshuò Practical information

Health & safety

Dangers & annoyances

While Yángshuò is relatively safe, it’s important to keep your wits about you. Yuèliàng Shān (Moon Hill) has been particularly popular with muggers in recent years and some victims have been wounded with knifes. The local PSB says all this is a thing of the past (‘perfectly safe, even by yourself!’) but it would still be wise not to stray off alone. Yángshuò is also the scene of many rip-offs, from hotel ‘deposits’ to dodgy tours.

Medical services

There are a number of traditional medical clinics on the northern side of Pantao Lu offering therapeutic massage, acupuncture and traditional medicine. It is even possible to enrol in brief courses at some of these centres.

People’s Hospital (Rénmín Yīyuàn) North of the main tourist centre, not far from the PSB.
