Weather
Gānsù can be roughly divided into three climatic regions: the low-altitude green belt south of Tiānshuǐ; the arid Hexi Corridor extending from Lánzhōu to Dūnhuáng; and the alpine grasslands rising up along the borders of Qīnghǎi and Sìchuān. Since the province rarely sees rain, dust storms are not uncommon, particularly in the spring. Winters get nippy from November to March. May, June, September and October are probably the best months to visit; June to September is the ‘high season’.
