Bus & tram

Bus

Buses in Chóngqìng can be painfully slow and, since there are no bicycles, they’re even more crowded than in other Chinese cities. Useful routes include: bus 401, which runs between the Chaotianmen Dock and the intersection of Renmin Lu and Zhongshan Sanlu; bus 405, running the length of Zhongshan Lu up to the Liberation Monument; and bus 102, which connects the train station and Chaotianmen Dock.

Taxi

Taxi fares vary depending on the type of car, but most fares start at Y5, jumping to Y5.9 after 9pm. A plethora of one-way and ‘no entrance’ streets means drivers will be forced to do some circuitous driving on the way to your destination.
