China Numismatic Museum information
Appropriately located in a former 1930s bank, this three-floor museum follows the evolution of money production in China. You'll see spade-shaped coins of the Spring and Autumn period, chunky gold-nugget coins and 'money necklaces' containing strings of small bronze knives. All coinage and paper currency during the Cultural Revolution are displayed, including all five sets of the modern-day rénmínbì, only two of which are still in circulation.
