Next, enjoy a traditional Chinese lunch of noodles or dumplings before you hop on the subway to Tiananmen Square. Walk across the dramatic spaces to the Forbidden City with its towering gates and formidable walls. See rare treasures and curiosities that give insight into palace life.

Then take a stroll in the imperial gardens before going to Jingshan Park, where you can admire the best of Ming Dynasty architecture, including  its stunning views of the Forbidden City and the ancient heart of Beijing.
