Beijing Black Tiger Academy
Both a place for fight devotees and fitness fanatics, Black Tiger doesn’t restrict itself to Chinese martial arts forms. You can learn Brazilian capoeira, ju-jitsu and Thai boxing here, as well mixed martial arts. The teachers are all certified and conduct classes in English.

Budizhen International Kungfu School
The Budizhen International Kungfu School is a popular martial arts school. Here you can get to grips with its distinctive style of Budizhen (步地真) Gongfu taught by Mr Gao. Training - also in taichi and qìgōng - is seven days a week.

Classes in English from teachers trained in traditional Shaolin forms. Wǔshù, qìgōng and taichi are all taught here. Ten classes cost Y500; there are classes for kids (five years and over), too.

Down an alley off West Nanjing Rd, the affable but serious guys at this centre teach karate and aikido, in both Chinese and English. Costs run from around Y450 for three months to Y1200 for a year.

Wing Chun Yip Man Martial Arts Athletic Association
The cost for three lessons a week (two or three hours each) for a month is $500. A six-month intensive course (six hours a day, six days a week) is around $5000, depending on the student.
