Hi all

I am travelling to Chile in a few weeks.

I am trying to learn a few Chilean phrases before I go. I've got myself a Latin American phrasebook and a Chilean phrasebook.

I've read how Chilean Spanish is really different from Spanish in other countries, however am I correct in assuming that the majority of 'basic' phrases that I would need when booking a bus ticket, booking a hotel room would be same in Chile as in other Latin American countries? Apart from a few phrases, most of the…

Has anybody booked online with this airline recently?

I tried several times & the error report will appear once I press the button to proceed after I keyed in my credit card for processing. I have contacted them via their webpage & Facebook private message but no response from them at all!
Thought I play safe & get a travel agent in Chile to do booking for me but it seems that no travel agent is allowed to book on behalf since Sky Airline has converted itself as a budget airline.
The next best…

Hi,

I'll be travelling in South America from Oct - Feb. I was just wondering if you can book tours of Patagonia with local companies when you are in Chile/Argentina. I can't find much information out local tours and am hoping to spend around 2/3 weeks in the Patagonia region and wondered if there are tours are readily available and the cost if there are?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Could anyone recommend a Santiago car dealer who sells old cars. eg. Chevrolet ('40-69) and a good mechanic? Email would be great.

Keen to buy an old Chev to take on a 2000 kms road trip.

What is the procedure + cost + time involved in registering an old car? I am an EU citizen.

Do I need an Chilean drivers licence for a 2/3 month trip?

As a foreigner, do I need this RUT tax number to buy an old car?

Many thanks.

Hi,

I am planning on hiking the W Circuit at Torres del Paine between Jan 2 - Jan 6. Should I book a spot at the free campsites (is it even possible)?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Can someone offer a good itinerary? The thought of a long train ride up and/or down Chile sounds exciting. I promised my kid, I'd take her to see wild penguins (either country is ok) and we want to see some pretty cities in Argentina and Uruguay. I traveled for ten years through 32 countries on 5 continents (with my dog Monster) but now I'm a family man and can't hitch-hike around anymore. Now safety is my biggest priority :) So if anyone knows prices of trains and local airlines that can…

Hi everyone,

We're planning to drive from Punta Arenas to Santiago in March, preferably one-way. We would like to follow the Carretera Austral as much as possible, specifically the southern part. Would 3 weeks be a good amount of time for this? Note that I'm not taking in account any hiking in Torres del Paine.

This image shows an idea of the trip we're planning: https://s12.postimg.org/it306hml9/Screen_Shot_2016_09_17_at_10_21_44_AM.png. Any comments about this?

We're planning to rent a…

Hi,

in about 2 weeks I want to travel through Northern Patagonia with a rental car.

To which city following Puerto Montt is the Carretera Austral paved (asphaltic road) so that I could drive on it with a regular (non 4WD) car?

And to which point is the unpaved road in a good quality after the asphalt ends so that I could easily travel it with a 4WD car?

Thank you.

Best
Chris
