Lonely Planet review for Emporio La Rosa

Choco-chilli, strawberry and black pepper, and rose petal are some of the fabulous flavors of this extra-creamy handmade ice cream, which has been known to cause addiction. Flaky pains-au-chocolat and squishy focaccia sandwiches are two more reasons to plonk yourself at the chrome tables.

    Great Flavors - Horrible Service

    readytofly does not recommend this,

This place has some extremely unusual flavors that you won't find anywhere else...like berries with a hint of mint. However, the two times I have been there, the service has stunk.

To order a scoop of ice cream you must first go to the cashier...and wait...and wait...and wait until the cashier finishes her personal business. Don't expect for her to say "momentito por favor" while she finishes up gossiping with her co-worker about some woman's handbag...she won't acknowledge you until she's good and ready...and then she most likely won't be polite. She's doing YOU a favor!

Then, once she hands you your ticket, you proceed to the counter and order your ice cream. This is a part of South America that drives me nuts. Businesses often make you wait in two lines to be served because they don't trust their employees to handle money. So who pays? The customer, of course.

Ok, so back to the counter at Emporio La Rosa...so you hand over your ticket and order your ice cream. An economy of words will be spent on you and you won't be thanked. Over and over again I observed customers thanking the servers and the servers not once said thank you or anything else polite.

Table service was even less friendly.

So, the bottom line with this place is that the flavors are unusual and yummy, but the customer service is non-existant and downright rude. If you feel like you want to be treated like a boil on someone's behind and you have tons of time to kill waiting for inept service...then run to Emporio La Rosa

The best gelato I have had in Santiago!

    travelazz recommends this,

I went there for the ice cream and it was definitely worth it. They had many different flavors ranging from exotic Chilean fruits to the basics and even more interesting like Chocolate Peperonccino. Overall fantastic and I am just itching to go back!

looking for a good place... you found it!

    alastor recommends this,

El Emporio de la Rosa offers a lot of delicious recipes, first, the baguettes, I recommend in particular that of salmon, ricotta and caper ...
then such a piece of cake, the inevitable three-milk cake, most serious sin not to try
and in a hot days do not hesitate to taste the exquisite and exotic variety of ice cream, one of my favorites: iced green tea with mango
    enjoy it :-)
