Hello all
I am looking for help on how to get from Arequipa in Peru to Arica in Chile. For some reason its been really hard to get any information even from iPeru. I hear from iPeru that buses are on strike in Tacna and so my only option is train. But they state that the bus strike should be over by the time I get to Arequipa.
I also heard there is no direct bus from Arequipa to Arica. That I have to get off at Tacna and take a collective to cross over to Chile.

Being that I am a woman…

Hello! My husband and I will be making many stops around South America for our honeymoon, and one of the stops is to trek at Torres del Paine. We plan on arriving in Punta Arenas (flying from Santiago, Chile) on December 24th. I saw where you can take buses from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales. I have a couple of questions about all of this process:
(1) Are the buses still operating on December 24th and December 25th? I didn't know if they would be or not, since it is Christmas-time. (2) If the…

Hello, everyone. I plan on climbing Mt. Aconcagua this coming December. I'm hoping I can receive some suggestions/advice on a good tour company to go with. I'm not looking for anything luxorious, fancy or expensive. I've done a few high altitude treks(kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, etc), but Aconcagua will be the biggest and hardest I've ever trekked. I will be on a budget, so I'm hoping to find a reputable company that won't be too expensive. Any tips and or advice will be greatly appreciated…

Dear Fellow Travelers
we , 4 persons, Geeks, plan to visit North Chile this September. I noticed trying to book a ticket (domestic flight from Santiago to Calama) with Skyairlines that there are two prices, if I write that residence is Chile then I get the cheap price, if i write that my home is in another country like Spain or Italy or any other country in Europe then I get the expensive rate, twice or more. Through Skyscanner i have access to Skyairlines by getting the cheap price.
I do not…

Hello All,

I may be travelling to Chile this August and I understand it's going to be cold then. I am wondering about the cost of winter clothing there. I am from a tropical country so I never have to wear them and sweaters and so here are a bit expensive. Does anyone know the cost of such clothing in Chile? Want to know if it's more expensive or cheaper over there so I will know where to buy.

Thank you.

Hi Folks,
I will be accompanying my father (aged 79 years) visiting Santiago. Can you recommend a good hotel - no need for 4 -5 star luxury.
I've read that breakfast is Coffee & croissant??? Is that the usual meal in a hotel???
THANKS for any suggestions

I GOT ROBBED IN SANTIAGO A COUPLE MONTHS AGO! This was in broad daylight, in Parque Forestal, which is a very nice park and actually one of the prettiest places in Santiago, and there were plenty of people around. The police and the people at the U.S. embassy weren't at all surprised when I told them about it--they had heard the same story many times.

Here's how it happened: I was walking through this park taking pictures (so, yes, they were attracted to my camera, an SLR); actually I saw them…

All,

Of a sudden I've just found out that I'll be in Chile for 3 weeks in July/August, and I really have no clue about how I should spend that time.

I will be in Santiago, and I have friends I need to visit in Valparaiso. I suspect, then, that I'd be willing to travel anywhere from Santiago in the north to Chiloe down south. I know it's a general question, but can anyone give some ideas on any cities/rural areas that would be great to visit during my 3 weeks? I'm not into skiing or national…
