I am currently staying in Vina de Mar. I will stay there for 3 more weeks and I would like to get to know travellers. I plan to go to Isla de Pascua and Torre del Paine.
Would be great to hear from people who have similar plans!
It seems from other post that the best way to have cell phone that works well in Chile and Argentina is to bring down an unlocked phone and buy sim cards from local providers. I can't get my phone unlocked unless I pay an outrageous fee so would a cheap prepaid phone from US work (like a go phone)? Or, buy a prepaid phone while down there? I will be there a month and don't need to make calls but would like to email/text and search web.
Does anyone know the catamaran schedule from Paine Grande to Pudeto in the first week of April? We are debating if we should do the trek east to west or west to east and it will depend a bit on the catamaran schedule. Also... what is the situation with the Grey vessel that sails from Refugio Gray?
We arrive at Punta Arenas at 11:59 pm on the 13th and plan to go to Puerto Natales as soon as we can to catch the 7:30am bus to El Calafate. It appears we will miss the last bus from PA to PN and will have to wait 7 hrs (until 7am) to get the next bus out. Are there any taxi or mini bus options that leave PA to PN earlier to get us there before 7:30am? If not, is there a hotel in PA you recommend where we can check in around midnight if we decide not to wait 7 hours?
Second question: I…
Being on a budget we plan to pick two of the day/afternoon trips in the atacama desert to do.
we love hiking and seeing amazing landscapes.

what are you top two sights to see??
I am going to Torres del Paine and want to hike the W but only have 3 days. I'm thinking of skipping the part of the trek that goes to the glacier to save time but not sure if this is a realstic itinerary with bus schedules/hiking distances etc? Any advice or alternate itineraries would be appreciated!
Day 1 - bus from Puerto Natales and hike to towers. Stay overnight at Las Torres
Day 2 - hike to/stay overnight at Los Cuernos
Day 3 - hike to Mirador Britanico and then to Paine Grande to get…
Not sure if anyone can help with our dilemma?
Currently in La Paz and were going to do amazon/uyuni, but with it being wet season, now thinking of heading into Chile instead, then returning to Bolivia in march.
Flights down to punta arenas seem expensive, would a better option be to go from uyuni into san Pedro, then bus to Santiago and fly to punta..?
How long is the bus from san Pedro to santiago nd are there places to stop along the way - any suggestions on itinerary?
Or have people…
I will be arriving in Rio Tranquilo tomorrow and hope to share a boat to see the marble caves etc. As I am staying in hospedajes it is difficult to meet fellow travellers so just thought I would try this :-):-)
